    :think: I STILL have the ugly hand-me-down sofa! Admittedly its the second different hand-me-down sofa I've had in the 15yrs I've owned a flat. It was my Grandma's and is an tapestry design, queen anne styled (??) (wooden legged) thing with wings... :eek: _pale_ The only positive things I can say about it is its comfortable (if very upright :rolleyes:) and you don't get a sore neck if you fall asleep on it as your neck is supported! :rotfl: I just haven't had the spare cash to buy a new one anytime... Thank god for throws...

    Actually thinking about it... Absolutely none of the furniture in my livingroom was bought by me - all hand-me-downs. :rolleyes: Some of it I remember from when I was wee... :eek:

    I think the only thing I'd actually choose is the storage unit but the rest have served me well so far! It was rescued from being thrown in a skip by my parents when they were 1st married. It has different sections that I remember using as an extension of my dolls house (which lived on top of it for a while) when I was wee... It is apparently mahogany although it has about 10 layers of paint on it. I keep meaning to strip it but I'll have to be careful as it possibly has lead paint on it...

    I've also got a really sturdy (heavy) oak (edwardian I think) table that lives in my kitchen that used to be my parents'... Its a bit too big but I love it and jumped at the chance to have it. One day I'll have the proper space for it! Just till then I can only fit 2 round it as it has to live in a corner to fit in! :rotfl:

    Do you have the pouffe though.......:confused:

    :rotfl::rotfl:YES!! :rotfl::rotfl:

    It isn't one with a lid though. My parents had one of those, don't know why that one wasn't passed onto me :confused: I could have upgraded!

    Have tried to sell the pouffe at the last 3 car boots...no-one wants it. Just can't uinderstand why...

    Glad its not just me then... :rotfl: I have 2 of those too...

    I keep meaning to try and recover them in the mean time till I can afford to replace them but it wouldn't be a simple job... I think they'd annoy me far less if they were a different (solid) colour. :rolleyes: Throws don't really stay on them very well...

    Update: I have managed to condense all my uni notes into two boxes. Considering they took up two boxes, plus all the room underneath my TV, plus more random space this time two days ago, I think that's pretty good going! :D I am going to continue sorting the rest of the room out now. I'm happy! :j

    That's all well and good, pickle, but have you ever owned a brown velour sofa that was passed on to you from a well meaning relative who was pleased to see the back of it :confused:

    Then there was the cheap imitation G-plan wall unit in teak-effect veneer MDF.......and (pretty cool this) our fireplace wall was done in a beaten copper-effect paper. Also had a twin-tub when I first got married.....we knew how to live in those days!

    can i join? mine was dusty pink (i hate pink) velour with a wooden back and sides. Was replaced by my great aunts sofa and chairs. Silly thing is the oldest one was the better one and i wish i'd never swapped them over!

    I have my grandparents bureau, my great uncles apprentiship pieces which are a drop leaf table and coffee table which is now working hard as a tv table. i wouldn't get rid of these pieces though
