Yes, a couple of years ago the same thing happened, and it really was a proper struggle to get the money together to repair it. We only have the one car, so it is not even as if we can manage with the second car for a while......but we will get through!

Thanks for your reply on the £20K by 2009. I can't quite believe I've saved £7K, but with work so vulnerable right now I'm so grateful for the buffer for 2010. Grateful too for the 'make £10 a day' thread where it seemed I never reached target, when in fact I "earned" about £3K from surveys, scratchcards, cashback, b!ngo, eb@y, music magpie, play.com, amazon etc. selling off "tat"... and I only live in a bedsit! I'd truly recommend everyone try this.
