I agree Mudbath - the chance to unwind is the best. We were all in our PJ's til about 1pm today!
It's good to release some the stress and tension that builds up beforehand.
Sounds like you've had a lovely time and great that the kids are so appreciative. Enjoy the rest of your break :)

Glad your day went well Hypno.
Poor Nana - they do worry don't they. But debt just didn't happen when they were young. A harder life in many ways and not without stresses but different from the modern day stresses that we cope with everyday.

Had a fairly laid back day yesterday here - got games for my wii which we got last year - so much fun was had in Milanns land. DH got me the nutrition one. I'll seriously look at it after New Year and try and get into a healthier lifestyle. But got a few outings planned to friends and hopefully go to see dd on Monday for a day or two so would be RUDE to pass on goodies that I know friends will provide :D

That said dd has spent her Christmas poorly again and was admitted to hospital today  Hopefully after being rehydrated might be home tomorrow because there are no consultants available till Tuesday . Not the Christmas she planned and a bit worrying being so far away from her. At least we should get to see her when we go on Monday.

It's been quite a day ds slid sideways on ice and fell out of his wheelchair is now very stiff and sore although it was quite funny at the time (yes warped sense of humour here LOL) :p - poor man :A came running to our assistance and nearly fell on top as he hit the ice too ....and had phone call telling us mil has taken poorly - they say it happens in 3s - ENOUGH now pleeease!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope the car isn't too costly.

Take care in the ice - should have been born with ice blades attatched at mo;)

Morning all. Cinema was excellent - I thoroughly recommend the film. It was nice for me to get out and do something different, although with the cost of cinema tickets as they are, it is not something I will be doing too often!

OH is back to work today, so he has gone already. Me and the kids are due at my Mums for lunch, but we are having to go on the bus because the car just won't get us there. Then, we are due at m-i-ls for dinner this evening, but I have yet to work out how the heck we will get there.....

Won £5 on scratches this morning - first time for a long time, so that was a better start to the day, bringing me nicely closer to payout.

milann, sorry to read about all your illnesses and injuries - I hope everyone is ok, but I agree that the ice has provided a few "comedy falls" over the last week or so!

and in the pj stakes, my DD stayed in hers all day - slummy mare..... I am about to go and wake her up to do her paper round though, so no chance of her having a pj day today!

Morning Hypno, you're an early bird!

That is bad news regarding the car. I hate to say it, but the same thing happened to mine a few months ago.

I casually mentioned it to my Dad that it was slowing down (I could live with it, it didn't really bother me).
He had a look at it and said "Don't even drive it home - it might blow up!"
I had a few weeks without it until the news came back that it needed a new engine (sorry!). I had to bite the bullet and buy a new car - well 6 year old - not NEW obviously!
We always get our cars from the Auctions, my Dad introduced us to them.

Sadly I bought it just at the time all second hand cars were rising in value  (when do you ever make money on a car )

Anyway, not trying to scare you :rotfl: (maybe just be prepared :o)

I think ours is the throttle - the same thing happened a couple of years ago, and it seems to be making similar noises, so I hope that is what it is because I seem to recall it only (only, haha) cost a couple of hundred pounds, which is not so bad in the grand scheme of cars/debt/shithappens.....but obviously I am no mechanic, and neither is OH so we really don't have a clue and will just have to wait until Tuesday before we can even ring anyone to book it in. It is just so frustrating that it happens over a long weekend - any other week and it would have been in, checked and fixed by now, with no hassle!!

    Hi Hypno.
sorry about your nana, the car and egg. but at least that is 3 things now. I know it is difficult to decide what to tell family about debt. I am sure that we come across as being well off. but that is because we are frugal most of the time, you know the drill, charity shops for clothes, and all the rest.

So when we choose to go out or whatever, that is our treat time and money. When we come back to the uk next year, we won't be skimping, but we will have got the best possible deals that we can.

And I know how tough family can be I don't know where my step bro is, and another step sibling is terrible with money.......

Yes, hopefully it will be that. It's difficult for me to diagnose it over the internet (especially as I am no mechanic either :D)
It's good that a couple of £100's doesn't phase you so much now - it might have been disastrous a few years ago, so I guess we can be thankful for small mercies :)
