Ultimately I want to prove to co op card peeps that I am a worthy & upstanding card holder so my limit is increased & I can then reduce Barclaycard limit. I have only had this card for 6 months & have only ever paid £30 above the minimum required as no interest so far. I do agree with your point about paying more interest in total if I dont pay the money off the Barclaycard but my instincts are telling me to pay the co op card off first.

I bank with co op & have no other interest or dealings with Barclays, my paltry savings account - into which quidco may one day be paid  - is with another bank. Should / does this make any difference

As there is an elephant in the room :D you should maybe read this back tomorrow but my plan would be:

    Either;
    • You could also transfer the money from the barclaycard to Capital One/Co-op and then transfer it back, it would be at the life of balance rate then. ;)
    Or:
    • pay off barclaycard as very penny you give them reduces the interest and gets it paid quicker (paying the Co-op one obviously reduces the total more quickly but you are paying interest on the barclaycard, that money could be yours, if you pay off the Co-op first all the money on the barclaycard will be at the highest rate, if you can do a transter it will be at 6.9)
    • transfer Capital One and Co-op to Barclaycard using the life of balance transfer as soon as Barclaycard is empty
    • close Capital One
    • use Co-op for general spending and pay it in full each month
    • open a savings account with Co-op for your quidco money, you also get points for savings you have with them
    • every month call barclaycard and get your limit reduced to just a bit above the balance you have on there, maybe £500 above so if you have an emergency you can use it.

    Wow

bpth the elpahtn & i are totaly in wae ... hang on what I mean is :

both the elephant & I are in awe :D

the trouble with these elephants is that they trample all over the keyboard in completely the wrong order so that what I mean & what I type are two entirely different things & it takes ages to put it right :o:rotfl:

I will take your very wise advice & re read this tomorrow with a large cup of coffee in my hand. Thank you so much for all your thoughts & recommendations :A

The way I view it is that the sooner that I can pay the debt off & get back to my normal life & shopping for fabby stuff again the better :j

Yay! :j It all helps Shoe Gal! I got £43.47, but £38 is from the broadband I ordered for my Mum, so only £5.47 to go to Barclaycard, but it's better than nothing. Hoping next month I might get my £90 from Vodafone :D
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending

    Morning ladies,

anyone else still in their jama s or is it just me that's a slob ? :o

Good news on the payout Shoe Gal, every tiny penny counts towards something. I only got £16.50 but that goes into my 'free' money account ie A savings account funded by Quidco, surveys & any coins savings which are all essentially free. I should now have about £106 & this money is what I am using for any home projects, redecorating, furnishing etc so that I can still do stuff if I want to but it's not taking anything away from my debt repayments.

Yes, I know the really boring & terribly serious peeps would say that it all should all go toward debt repayments ... well :p to that.

I'm still struggling with the CC plans. I know what sarah is saying makes sense ... its just that even by paying an extra £800 ( this is the approximate amount extra I will have available) by the end of the year, it will still take me another year probably to clear it & be able to balance transfer the Capital One & Co op cards over. This means that if I need to use a CC during this time it will still have to be on the Barclaycard at the highest interest rate.

    Aaaaaaaggggggghhhhhh

Off to make more coffee & consider getting dressed :D

ps isnt it sarahs birthday soon, anyone remember when ?

I agree with you about not putting absolutely every penny to debt - we have to have a life (inc pink elephants!) too . I admire those MSEers who can be so dedicated - but I am not one of them :o

Sorry - don't know about sarah's birthday - but we defo need a 'virtual party' for our SAID founder :D
