misslauren, hope you're okay, what a nasty little creep, you are well rid of him:mad::mad::mad:. Totally agree with Lula's advice re shoes:D
My lovely bag has arrived but unfortunately it is at the Sorting Office as I wasn't in:(. Will have to rush down there tomorrow to rescue it. I forgot that I have also done a little more spending:o as there was an post on Grabbit re Tesco clothes so I got some underwear which was in the sale (I wouldn't normally buy supermarket underwear but it was lovely and very pretty) and a bag and some socks.
I used a code for £10 off, so I got about £50 worth of stuff for £33 due to code and reductions and also got £10.50 worth of points:jand free delivery. It wasn't even technically spending as I used my ebay money.:D I know I am on the clothes challenge and promised to spend £0:o but as the points will be spent on a magazine subscription they will be worth £42 so the way I see it Tesco paid me to take their underwear, socks and bag away:D. *Hopes Lula sees it the same way* *also thinks there is some get out clause in the clothes challenge which allows you to spend vouchers/ebay money*
I am getting a bit alarmed at how I am sliding back so easily into my old justifying ways:o (see above:D) even though I am only using my ebay funds so I am going to hang fire for a while now and get my ebay money to a nice amount and then treat myself.I don't want to get into my old ways of buying things without thinking just because I like them, then throwing them into a cupboard, never to be seen again:eek: I need to spend wisely.
I also got £3 worth of vouchers through the post today for a survey I did :jand on Wednesday I got 4 numbers on the lottery and won £68:j. The lottery money has gone in the sealed pot for Christmas and I will keep the vouchers for money off food shopping.

sarah, my sweet,
STOP RIGHT THERE :naughty:
you're concerned about you slipping back into your old ways ? I am absolutely petrified. I have seen you do this too many times. We are being frugal this year remember ?
I agree that you have worked hard & done really well with the ebaying :A, but really, did you do all that just so you could buy underwear at Tatco ?
I think not, get a grip right now & remember your treat is the key to your own place.
You're not justifying, you're making excuses to feed your old addiction.
Dont do this, please.

, but really, did you do all that just so you could buy underwear at Tatco ?
:rotfl:Point taken.:o (It was very pretty though:)). You are right, even though I do consider the bag as free due to using ebay money and I only got the underwear for the points. But it is the thin end of the wedge and I have to stop, am quite pleased that I managed to get to April before I cracked though:D.
I am commited to being frugal in 2010 and I have not spent very much, have not bought treats apart from wine and chocolate, I have only bought one thing off ebay (a make up bag for £6) as I don't really look so I won't be tempted, I have hardly been to the shops since the start of the year, I have spent a lot of time ebaying, wrapping and posting to make extra money, sold my phones, done clicks, used quidco and TCB, all the things I have bought recently have been using ebay funds and not my earnings, I have made extra payments to the cc, paid money into my ISA, done overtime at work and basically made sure I live within my means.:)
You are right and I didn't do it to get Tatco underwear:p and I do feel that all my efforts will be wasted if I start spending again as the aim of being frugal is to save money and to make myself more aware of what I need rather than what I want and not to have extra money to throw at tat.:o The handbag will last forever though and is an investment:) and the underwear was to get the points with some nice underwear thrown in.
I will stop now as it has been quite good fun to see what I can get free/cheaply (yesterday I collected my lottery win and then sneaked into an exhibition and got 2 free coffees:)) and I don't want to put all my efforts to waste by ending the year with no money and a big pile of rubbish that needs selling. I want to end it with a nice amount in the bank, a decluttered living space and at least another stone lost.:j
I am actually enjoying being frugal and selling things and I don't want to waste it so thank you for being the voice of reason and saying what I needed to hear:A:A:A. If it looks like I am in danger of slipping again please tell me as I do need a reminder from time to time.:)Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
Hello
Haven't been about much, but haven't really been conscious for long enough to post :rotfl::rotfl:
There's some weird and horrible film on TV, that I can't be bothered to turn off.
I don't have any news really except that I've started the counselling. It's going ok I think, early days. It's not bad really. Essentially we do yoga, sit around chatting with folks, drinking free coffee and eat yummy food at lunchtime. Private healthcare is amazing.
Sarahb - I'm afraid I'm with LulaA couple of treats are acceptable, but it's a slippery slope. As you say, you don't want to end 2010 in exactly the same position as at the end of 2009.
GwenxThough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -

we are as twins on this mission, when one wanders off the frugal path, the other can guide the way back & as long as we dont wander at the same moment, we should be fine. I am counting on you to force me to start ebaying stuff when I finally quit home-job

nice to have you back, I just caught a glimpse of something unpleasant on bbc1 & turned off immediately, I do not like horror films other than those involving Alfred Hitchcok.
I may need some help & guidance with staying on the right path myself; I'm very lucky to have been accepted for the Virgin CC balance transfer & at the moment have a credit on my old Barclaycard account & no details of Vrigin Cc so am temporarily in debt only to the sum of £ 600 :rotfl:

Wow! Sounds brilliant:D Hope it's doing you some good :ASarahb - I'm afraid I'm with LulaA couple of treats are acceptable, but it's a slippery slope. As you say, you don't want to end 2010 in exactly the same position as at the end of 2009.
You're both right, I won't do any more spending:D I am totally comitted to reaching my £20k target and I won't get there if I fritter everything away:o. However, my sealed pot, into which I am putting any money I find/win/whatever in 2010, is mine, all mine and I will be opening it in December and I will be spending it all on mePay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
wow, I've just double checked your sig & you are doing brilliantly with the saving £20,000 challenge :A
I stupidly stuffed all my £2 coins into a very pretty savings pot that has to be broken to retrieve the contents ...I dont want to ever break it & I do want the money come December, I forsee some quality time with knife ahead.

We have already completed 1/4 of the frugal path:j and only tripped a couple of times over boots and bags so I think we are doing quite well so far:). We will end 2010 raising our glasses to our weightloss, decluttering, frugalistaness, ebaying success and bursting bank accounts:j
Am certainly going to nag you re ebaying, it is soooo time consuming and sooo boring:( but I have just checked my account and another £6 has flooded in :rotfl:so it all adds up. I just think of it as being paid to declutter :jand blank out all the time I spend in the Post Office queue:(.Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
