    Second chance.

I beg you, listen to earwig and what she is saying. She has been in exactly your position, and thats the reason why she is here now. You might be struggling now, but this is small beer compared to whats going to be expected in the new house. I did mean to back out of this conversation, but I really dont think you guys are doing the right thing.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • just wandering if any one else feels they are addicted to getting into debt?? probably sounds stupid but last year i found myself in a deep deep whole and after confessing all to my husband we sorted it out by remortgaging i promised myself never never again yet i seem to be starting again with catalouge debts here and there and a very big urge to spend!! those who have seen my post on the mortgage free site know that my aim is to pay off these debts and start on my huge mortgage but i seem to be my own worst enemy and wonder if im addicted to worry and sleepless nights!!!
i was just reading this thread again and was surprised at how things have changed in my mind since the first post!!
point 1 with your help i can see i havent "sorted" my debt just shifted it
point 2 my aims remain the same but my urge to spend has gone i keep pouring over my outgoings and trying to decrease them i seem to have woken up to the fact that every penny does count....
to you who have been advising me re house move i am glad i posted as i am not going into anything blinkered and cant kid myself that it will be easy but with the cc and catalouges in the bin its like a whole new world is opening up for me and i am determined not to fall back into that trap

but the quesion for me is do you think that you can honestly keep up this level of momentum for so many years? Do you honestly believe that you will be able to live without, holidays, new car, clothes that are "new" ie not from charity shops or jumble sales. Do you think your kids are going to be able to put up with this sort of lifestyle to be in this specific house? The other thing to note is what ifyour daughter wants to go to uni will you be expecting her to get into debt all on her own, or will you and your OH want to help her out. 25 years is a hell of a long time and you have to think of all the things that are going to happen in that time and then work out a budget for things like this. Ie not a great deal but my parents had 2k for me in an isa that helped me in my last year of uni when i couldnnt get any more debts to live on. Im not saying she will, but maybe this is an eventuality that you might want to plan for.

Im struggling to get my head around this to be honest, as this is the opposite of what we are doing, but there again I cant expect everyone to think Im right all the time. It just sounds like a life sentence to me, with finally getting to the end of it jsut before your retirement.

Saving a few quid here and there is fantastic, but like diets, you can only do them for so long until you crack....

  • im sorry if you feel i am going against what you are achieving here i was really proud of what i had achieved this week..of course i dont think i can go without for 25 years and i wouldnt expect my daughter to but theres a difference between having what you need, having the things that you can save for and just buying everything you see and want on credit, i am expecting to struggle for a while but whilst cutting down and earning more (i am in line for a pay rise in july and meeting my boss in the next few weeks to discuss how much) i am sure in time we will be straighter its just going to take time and effort.. i have updated my soa and feel i have been able to save more.thankyou for your help i didnt want to waste anyones time x x

im sorry if you think im taking my familys future lightly this i assure you i am not doing-i think that i can afford it as long as i am careful with my penniesand do not squander them as in the past-that is why i am here for motivation and tips and it is already working x x x

sc this is last post i will do on here i hear what you are saying and i understand how much you want to give your famley the best but this isnt best for them at this time lynzpower is right i have been in your postion and that is why i am telling you things i have never told people even my famley

we moved into a nice house after my o/r had sorted my debts out and remorgaed for a better house i told my hubby that my spending days was gone that the new house is all i wanted ect and for a while i did have it under controll but when my dd started school that when it creept back into my life i wanted my dd to have what the other kids had birthday partys at 150.00 a go and i said no at first but the presser you get from your kids when they cant have one is unbelivable so i gave in used the cc and went a head with the party
once i had started spending again it was like i was in free fall the cute tops the next coat ect then i wanted to decrate the house put it on the card it i was working o/h was working we was clearing 2500 a month so it was no problem the morgae was large but we could pay it and cause i was working every thing was brought for convence after doing a double shift i wasnt going to start cooking a proper meal it was takeaways ect we was doing ok and i thought it would stay like it
then one unplaned pregancy and i couldnt work had really bad morning sickness which lasted all day every day oh job was changed and had to take a paycut of 120.00 per week suddnely we was in a black hole we couldnt aford nothing as hard as o/h tryed there was no better paid jobs so out coame the cc again this time to pay for bill ect and it got to the point where another 30.00 aint going to make much differance soon they was all maxed out
so we was faced with a choice sell the house or have it reposed so we sold the house but with all the pentaly on the morgage and areas we only had enough for a month deposit for rented it still left us with our cc debts so my oh had to go bankrupt so we had no spare money to pay them
thing are a little better now thanks to this site and all the adivce i have been given although i do still have lapess but the bottom line is we will never get on the property ladder again we cant get councill houseing as we are suitable housed and we stuck paying some one elses morgae if i could turn the clock back i would never of brought the house stayed where i was then i would be so much better off now so please think again is it so bad to stay where you are pay of your debts have a bit os savings behind you then move when you are in a better postion so while you have the chance to get out of this please take it
i cant slow down i wont be waiting for you i cant stop now because im dancing
