Is it time to move this into "It's Gone, But Was It Any Good?"
Not for me, it wasn't!0 -
Managed to nab one on Friday from Lakeside ASDA Living. A quick phone call secured one. When i got to the store they weren't even on display anywhere. Bloke i spoke to on the phone got one from the stockroom. All very stange...
Still, what a TV for the price, kids are overjoyed.0 -
Only one problem with this TV. There's too many toys and features. I'll never make full use of everything on it.
Compared to my 32" 720p Samsung the picture quality doesn't seem any better with Sky HD. But with a Bluray playing through the PS3, WOW!!!0 -

The price of TV's is always coming down. Remember when 50" was only available to footballers??? Bide your time and bargains will come your way. :0)0

Tale of woe for me. I spotted this deal at my local Asda yesterday afternoon, before seeing this thread. I knew what a fantastic price it was and decided it was too good an offer to turn down (our current TV is a CRT and we've been thinking about a new TV for a while). The sales manager gave me the bad news that there were none in stock, so I asked about buying the display model. He said he couldn't as they were getting more in tomorrow. I gave him our number and told me to ring me when they came in (I live 5 minutes away).
Last night, I decided to try another Asda - same story exactly. I then tried a third Asda but they didn't even have them on display.
Today at luchtime, after reading the above post, I decided not to wait the salesman's phone call and went back to my local Asda, to find the TV gone from the display. I told a different salesman what I'd been told yesterday, and that he hadn't been able to sell the display to me, so I asked what had happened to it. He got on the phone to his manager and was told it "had been returned to Asda electricals". So rather than sell it they sent it back to a depot??
Very disappointed all round, and a bit suspicious that Asda staff were not exactly honest with me.
We then popped round to an independent retailer who often have great deals, but the same TV there was £899!!!
I'm glad others have struck lucky, though!
Sorry to hear your story, i must admit certain members of the staff didnt seem too pleased that the manager had offered me this deal but I dont think they wanted to argue with me after giving me false information over the phone and making drive all the way there!!
Its frustrating for you though as your suspicions are probably not too far wrong!

That's not the 40", that's an "S" range 40". Not the same as the "W" range, which the 37W5500 is.0 -
