I phoned the Basildon branch who told me they had one left and would put it aside for me, when I got there they had made a mistake, they didnt have any left so they let me have the display model for £350!! They said I could have it as long as it came up as 'deleted' on their system, which it did, so ultimately i've paid £350 for a Sony 37inch TV.... BARGAIN!
Couldnt be happier!!! Thanks again!
Well Done for saving the extra £50:T
Just think you can now buy 10 cases of Carlsberg Export with the savings :beer:0 -

Dya think they will be sold cheaper@ the till? ( Apologies for this, lady didnt sound convincing on the phone! )0 -
thanks lynsey
not all retailers do the trade in. eg asda! that's why i dont know if richer sounds did it officially, or not, for me.
Good deal then. Richer Sounds do advertise the Sony trade-in in their catalogues, so it is official. Don't know why they questioned it? They're a funny lot, aren't they? I've never managed to buy anything from them.
£700+ will buy a decent plasma though. :think:0 -
Tale of woe for me. I spotted this deal at my local Asda yesterday afternoon, before seeing this thread. I knew what a fantastic price it was and decided it was too good an offer to turn down (our current TV is a CRT and we've been thinking about a new TV for a while). The sales manager gave me the bad news that there were none in stock, so I asked about buying the display model. He said he couldn't as they were getting more in tomorrow. I gave him our number and told me to ring me when they came in (I live 5 minutes away).Money_Savers wrote: »Thanks so much for telling everyone about this deal.

Last night, I decided to try another Asda - same story exactly. I then tried a third Asda but they didn't even have them on display.
Today at luchtime, after reading the above post, I decided not to wait the salesman's phone call and went back to my local Asda, to find the TV gone from the display. I told a different salesman what I'd been told yesterday, and that he hadn't been able to sell the display to me, so I asked what had happened to it. He got on the phone to his manager and was told it "had been returned to Asda electricals". So rather than sell it they sent it back to a depot??
Very disappointed all round, and a bit suspicious that Asda staff were not exactly honest with me.
We then popped round to an independent retailer who often have great deals, but the same TV there was £899!!!
I'm glad others have struck lucky, though!0 -
Ellesmere Port still had them in stock earlier today0

Were they still £400??
It may well help someone.
This "W" model is far superior than some of the other models and I believe some like maybe the "S" model doesn't even have the Bravia engine - hope some "expert" can clarify.

If anyone knows of any still selling them in the north east I'd appreciate it. I've been saving up for this TV, but I'd feel robbed buying it for 700 now :rotfl:0

Ellesmere Port Have non in stock.
I luckily got one this afternoon after ringing approx 15 stores. They have raised price to £600 today but I spoke to the manager and he agreed to sell me one @ £400. They are as hard to find as rocking horse poop. I did a 160 mile round trip (£20 Diesel) but I think it was worth it for a top quality W model @ £400.0 -
I'd be willing to travel quite far to be honest but I can imagine turning up and them telling me they've just sold the last one.
