just adding this to keep things in perspective......being able to go bankrupt is a real privilege. in the country my OH comes from they put you in prison for debt (including writing cheques that fail to clear). and they are not nice cushy prisons either. so everyone who gets to write off their debt with bankruptcy should count their lucky stars.

If his country is that great why dont the pair of you do us all a favour and move there. These boards are for help, support and guidance, not " count your lucky stars, in another country you would be in prison:naughty:

Really glad about the car btw Ange, great news:j

Ninky, perhaps you should count your lucky stars as well. After all, you also benefit from living in a country which is civilised enough to permit is citizens a lsst resort out of the despair of crippling debt. I wish there was some way to simply "write off" my debts. Going bankrupt has also written off any asset of value, the ability to work in the profession I chose, a position of respect in the community, and the respect of a large number of people, so please do not be so callow as to make light of it.

In comparing our luck in being able to use the lifeline supplied by this county's bankruptcy laws, prhaps your should consider your luck in benefitting from other advantages to being in this country. I dare say a country which imprisons debtors whose circumstances change isn't all that hot on womens rights, race equality or religious freedom either. If it is, please do tell where this Utopia exists, and precisely why you are still here.

Sorry but this one got my back up so much that i had to trawl through your previous posts Ninky to find out where this glorious country your husband came from is and why did he leave the wonderful place.

I was shocked to find that he was an illegal immigrant who came into this country underneath a lorry from the wonderful IRAN:rolleyes:

I am extremely surprided that someone in your position can make such an opinionated and judgemental comment.

Your husband too must count his lucky blessings daily, given where he has come from and the benefits of our country he is now enjoying.

my husband came here in his 20s as an illegal hiding under the bottom of a lorry all the way from calais to a motorway service station in the uk. he had done 2 years military training, extremely accomplished in martial arts and a very good shot. had he been allowed to serve in the army he would have jumped at the chance. he did spend time in other eu countries on the way but decided to come to the uk because of the reputation it had for better employment opportunities. he also spoke some english as this is what tends to be taught in schools. he would have stood no chance of coming into the uk legally
