Might lose car tomorrow

I have been waiting since my OR interview beginning of Sept for news on our car and whether the OR will allow us to buy it back. The OR said he would give me an allowance for a car as I need a car for a p/t job I am in process of getting. My DH has use of a company van to get to work.
Got a call today from the car recovery company. The guy was very nice on the phone but my first reaction when I came off was to burst into tears and as usual it brings all the pain and feelings of upset up to the surface again.
They are sending a guy out tomorrow to value it and if we are un-able to offer a satisfactory sum (my parents have stepped in to do this) they will take our car away there and then.
I feel dreadful now. I dont want my parents to feel pressured into helping us buy it back although they offered to, as my Mum is about to under go a major operation which is costing them dearly. I dont want to lose the car as its so reliable and in great condition but I realise it will prob have to go to release equity for our BR.
All in all my emotions are at rock bottom again and thats what living with BR does to me.

Really Sorry To Hear this It's Not Much Help But Remember There's Allways Light
At the End of The Tunnel and hope it all goes well for You0 -
You never know what kind of day you're going to have being BR eh Ange. Cars are bizzare things. I remember taking it really badly when I had to hand in my lovely little yaris back last Christmas. We were struggling to meet costs (lol as you all know) and tried to cut back on all outgoings. I had to buy an old car. I was ashamed to drive this, ashamed to be seen in it, felt my self confidence seeping away as I was seen in this 'thing'.
A car is just a possession but it's a personal possession, we get really attached to them. I'm not saying you're nearly as shallow as me though, i'm just saying cars seem to be a problem for most. Me? lol just happy to be able to keep our old banger for DH's work. You've loads still up in the air Ange. You're bound to be feeling the ups and downs of a newly bankrupt. You'll get answers soon hun, then you can move on. Stay strong x0 -
Thats a really nice thing MicheH said, its true, its just stuff and if it gets you from A to B, hey, who cares?I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!:j:j:jNegotiate, Negotiate, and Negotiate again.:j:j:j0

Thanks all for the replies,
Its not that im really attached to our car and everyone is right, if it gets you from A to B thats whats important. Its just Ive had old bangers in the past and its prob been our luck, but they have all been money pits with endless repairs and problems.
This car is really the first decent car we have ever had. I valued it on Parkers at £3300 as a lowest estimate. The OR mentioned a £1000 allowance in my interview and my parents are kindly offering £1500 to add to that. But i guess thats probably not gonna be enough.
Miche you are so right, you can go from up to down in seconds going thru BR. I am trying to be strong but you get to the point sometimes when you feel you just cant take much more of it all.
The guy on the phone wanted to stress that the person coming tomorrow would be absolutely confidential when looking at the vehicle and will come in an un-marked car so 'no-one will know'!! the purpose of his visit. At least he wont have 'BR's ARE US' emblazoned on the side. Lol !
Well DH just cleared out all our stuff from it and we will keep fingers crossed they will accept an offer.

Hi, So sorry to hear about your car, i know how we all get attached to them especially when they are so reliable. Just had a thought though if all goes up in the air and they take your car, would your mum still be happy to give you £1500 towards the £1000 from the OR which would give you £2500 to buy a car that would hopefully be as reliable as the car you have just now. Just a suggestion im not sure if that's allowed in BR but maybe someone will come along and advise. Anyway, good luck will be thinking of you, come back and let us know how you get on and keep your chin up

Payment 7 of 102 :eek:0 -
Hi
As my name suggests I am in the motor trade and 15 yrs ago I used to takle cars back after HP non payment. It is not a nice job to do to be far and the easier you make it on the person coming to value or collect the car the better. It waS ONLY the ones who did not wont to give it up without a fight that made it hard and very heated.
If it is any consulation....and you are not able to buy or come up with a reasnoble offer, then you can offer to take the car to the collecting agent's premises and not have it collected from your home!
It may be harder for you!!! but if you dont like people in your street see people collecting it from your home then this can be a better solution!!!
Hope all goes well

Morning Ange. I hope you get what you're looking for today, I hope the valuer is fair and calm. Good luck. Either way, once today is over with, whether you get the result you want or not you'll know where you stand and what is going to happen. Going through all this I think that the 'knowing' is much better than the wondering 'what if'. Once you know, you'll be fine, you can put the car issue to bed. i just hope you get the 'deal' you want.0

Hi
I just wanted to thank everyone first for the replies, advice and info you all gave me.
The company rang at 3.15 to cancel us and re-arrange as they had a priority case arise. They were very apologetic.
So its now Monday at 4 o clock instead!!
Was hoping to get it sorted as didnt sleep much last night so now have got all weekend to worry. But hey ho thats life !!
Tech2 thanks, Good to hear you can arrange to take car to premises to avoid the recovery vehicle in the street, theres enough curtain twitching going on already here !! And we are a one way street so I wont be flavour of the month if we block that!!
Also my step dad had a chat on the phone earlier (as he is the one who could be stumping up the cash!) with the guy thats coming and got a good impression from talking to him. Apparently they get a price from a dealer at what it could be sold for and work from there. The guy also mentioned he is very fair and tries to favour if he can on the side of the person in negotiating a deal. So I feel a bit more clued up now. Cos, I was just dreading a real jobsworth.
Will up-date you all Monday and thanks for all being there :A
