No it isnt credit scored, visa debit card . Money manager is the Cov bs's term for a day to day account. At first they didnt allow direct debits, just standing orders and wages , But its basically a cut down version of a current account and it DOES accept faster payments:)
Ok. Looks like it's a basic bank account then. The interest rate is good for a basic bank account, as almost all basic bank accounts in other high streets banks are either 0% or 0.10%.
When you get your card, I wonder if you could post a pic of it up here.0 -
Yea ill post pic. Remember when you get card as with thier other accounts you have to sign form to say you got it and they then send out your pin number...For everthing else there's mastercard.
For clampers there's Barclaycard.0 -

Well I just applied for it. Good to have a spare account as I am closing my Halifax account
Im with Halifax ATM and not happy with the Electron card they supply. Also applied to Lloyds bank so will see how that goes, though I was hoping to find an account with a cheque book.
Anyway CBS seem on the ball, I rung them this morning to activate my card, PIN on it's way and a form to sign up to Telephone/Internet banking.
Did notice though that the sort code starts 40- are they something to do with HSBC? (HSBC/Midland have always declined me).

Did you apply for the LTSB Cash Account? If so, it's not worth it, as you could only withdraw cash from their cash machines only. No chequebook is available. Basic bank accounts don't offer cheque books.
I do agree with the Electron card that is supplied with your basic bank account. Also, it provides limited branch service. The card looks ugly too! You could have went to either Barclays or Natwest/RBS who offer VISA debit cards like the Coventry one instead of the Halifax one.
I would stick to your Coventry account you have at the moment.
I noticed on their website about something to do with HSBC. I don't understand why though. I thought they were a seperate institution. http://www.coventrybuildingsociety.co.uk/onlineservices/usingonlineservices/PayMoneyIn.aspx0 -
Curious about this basic account, so applied online and have just printed off the form to sign. They do just an ID check with Equifax, checked all my online credit ref reports and for some reason thought they may have checked 'Call Credit' but definitely Equifax!0

They use HSBC to clear cheques0 -
It's indeed a good account to have, and it's similar to the Coventry current account (Coventry First). Hopefully, it's not a credit scored product. This account is not listed as a current account or a savings account. It's a 'Money Manager' whatever that is.
Don't like the idea of having a maximum balance of £250,000 though. Most banks allow an unlimited amount of money in the account.
If anyone has a picture of the card, please post one. I think the design of the card will be different from the current account one.
I know, having a maximum balance of £250,000 must be a real pain in the rear end, when your a Millionaire! :rotfl:0 -
