    Great photos simply :-)
Becky I hope your foot holds out ok and you get good run in.
Hannah, so impressed with how far you have come over such a short time. Hope your little ones teeth come through soon (teething granules worked a dream with my two)
Feeling pretty good today, slight twinge in back but hoping can get out for short run tomorrow :-)

Simply - I love your pictures. For some reason I always thought you were a man  so I was quite surprised to see you! You look ever so composed, not at all frazzled at the end like I am. It looks like you have just finished a short training run, not a marathon!

Becky - I hope your foot is better. We love our gory pics of injuries on here don't we? Remember Hypno's blister pics?

I bought one of the thicker Aldi jackets too, this one: http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/2827_11552.htm but I got the turquoise one. I haven't tried it yet, it isn't cold enough. This is definitely one for frosty mornings.

UK - good luck for Athens.

Oh yes! I get that "OMG what have I done" feeling whenever I think about it. Really pleased to have got in and at the same time really daunted by the huge training mountain that lies ahead, if that makes any sense.

I did a training plan last week but because of different family and work commitments I haven't kept to it. Still, its early days. I'm off out tonight though, probably for around 8-9 miles so that's not too bad.

What about you, what is your next target?

    Week 15 - W2/9 to reindeer - PLAN Week 2: 4, 4, 8 - one of the 4 milers at around 11:30 - 12 mins/mile - tempo run
    Mon 12/10 - 4.11m (lakeside) 47:09 (11.29/m)
    Thu 15/10 - 4m 45:36 (11:24/m)
    Sat 17/10 8m 1:34:53 (11.51/m)

    Week 16 - W3/9 to Reindeer 10k Plan 4, 4 & 6 (1 x 4m fartlek)
    Mon 19/10 - 4m 46:02 (11:30.5)
Thu 22/10 - 4m 46:56 (11:44) very windy out again on the open part of the route. I didn't do the fartlek as planned as I didn't feel very well, I had eaten later then usual which is what I am putting it down to. Feeling better now anyway.

So the question now is, should I do some fartlek on the 6m that I have on Saturday or just leave it for another week?

Tq - thanks and I can't wait for the teething to be over!! at the minute its teething powder & calpol at the ready!

Hannah, it sounds like you're making good progress. If I were you I'd just run as I feel on Saturday. If you are feeling OK, throw in a bit of fartlek but don't get too hung up if not.

Oooh, teething....my son is 14 now. Teething seems like an age ago, poor you. My biggest hassle is having to taxi him round to various sporting events, or cinema trips, or parties, etc. etc... that and getting him up out of bed in the morning. :p Oh, and the toys get more expensive as they grow up. :rotfl:

I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets it wrong; sometimes I have to think really carefully before posting because I'm unsure if someone is male or female. It's not always easy to tell is it?? :rotfl:

Hannah - my understanding is that fartlek is about running to how you feel (it's less structured than intervals) and today you didn't feel up to running any faster bits - so that's fine. No need to worry about it ;)

  • Managed 4.7 miles in 45:31 (9:41/mile) today. There was no tigger bounce in the legs for the first three miles - but I guess that's to be expected after essentially a week or two off and two good runs earlier in the week. I decided to not try and push, and dropped the pace a bit, and then enjoyed the run after that. I could have gone on longer too - except it was in my lunchbreak so I thought I'd better head back!

Total for the week = 14.9 miles

Enjoyed my 6.5 mile run with the running club last night, it was cool and clear, perfect for running, just 6 of us out last night, one chap just took off and we didn't see him until we got back to the club, the others were at a very similar pace to me and a couple slower who we waited for at several points, it feels nice to come into a running club and not be the slowest, I thought they'd be leaving me far behind!!!!

I got my race pack through today for the Leeds 10k Abbey dash today, it's a very flat and fast one so I really want to go for a good time on that one.
Can't go to running club tomorrow because hubby & son are out but I'll be running on Sunday morning :T

I've got my running bug back :D

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
