hey marru be careful with that knee hon!!!! strengthen strengthen strengthen is all i can possibly say to you. concentrate on the inside thigh muscles. the bet exercise i had that has made my knee strong again is sitting on a chair and squeezing a football between my knees and squeezing inwards from the knee not the groin, holding for 5 then releasing for 5. should help but if your knee is niggling, get it checked. I for one know the pain and inconvenience of ignoring the problem and ending up on crutches and facing an op a year later. xxx

Thanks, knee is feeling fine but unfortunately on Monday my shin started to hurt and I have a bad feeling that I got shin splints :( so no running for me now. Still waiting to get my membership sorted so that can go at least to do some cross training at the gym.

I am returning to old haunts! Nice to see some familiar faces....hypno and Pania :hello:

Well i went for my first run tonight in .....months....

I feel like I am right back at the begining....cept I guess at the begining I couldn't run 5k on my own. My legs are stiff and my top kept riding up over my wobbly belly - maybe next time I won't run at rush hour. Am pleased with myself though and once again I have been reminded why I like running.

Back out tomorrow night with a runchum.....happy days...

hiya sammy! Welcome back and good on you for getting back out there :T

Marru, sorry to read about the shin splints - rest and they will be better before you know it!

Well done to everyone getting out there and running -thankfully today has been a bit cooler - did 40 mins of 3 run/1 walk with running buddy today, plus my usual run to and from hers. She is doing fabulously, and the difference in just 2 weeks is pretty amazing!

And I am enjoying being back out there too - so all good :D

If you feel like it and your body doesn't ache and feel strained - is it ok to run a couple of days in a row or most days out of a week or is this too much?

Listen to your body and learn to take notice of it. If you fancy another run, then go for it. If you are exhausted, then skip a day, or do your run on Friday instead of Thursday, for example.

Last week I ran 5 days out of 7 because I just felt like it, and was enjoying it, and it didn't hurt - the last time I did that was about 1992 :rotfl:

Thanks hypno - thats the same as I thought. I quite fancied another run tonight and then thought hang on wait until tomorrow morning for the next one.

I've been thinking about running all night - so maybe should have gone and not be on here all night, eating popcorn watching the footie. Still next run is tomorrow morning and then will see how I feel the day after. On the way home from work I thought about fitting in another run on Sunday which I might still do

I certainly don't think there is any problem in doing another run if you want to. Even if you then skipped one later in the week because of bad weather/too busy/not feeling great you have got one "in the bank" so to speak!

Some weeks you will find that you only get out once or twice, rather than your intended 3 times, for all sorts of reasons. So, all the more reason to get the runs in while you can, and especially while you are enjoying them!!
