    I'd be happy with 59 mins for a 10k!!

Well done to anyone getting out there in this heat - it really is hard work!

And as for me being green - I certainly feel that way around the edges when I have finished!

    Lurkio,
Sorry I didnt notice your reply.....well done on your Park Run time..I (nearly:D) know how that feels....bloody hard!.....you must be feeling good about your 10k now. Have you set a goal yet?

I have been running in the heat and its not good! However it is good practice for those hot races.

Have you booked in your next one yet?

I am struggling to pick up my pace since the Marathon, but I am trying to be patient.

Any more runs planned or just chilling before the big off...

Completed Week 1 Day 2 today and found it quite tiring, which I expected as it always gets worse before it gets better with running for me

Keep thinking about completing the 5K at the end of the programme which is keeping me going

    Next run is Sat

no more planned.... I believe the expression is 'tapering' :D :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Not confident at all really... didn't get the full distance in the other day. thought I'd started slowly, but wasn't slowly enough. That and the heat just took it out of me.. Ran for 50 minutes though, so getting there.

Haven't booked the next one yet. Gonna see how this one goes :o

Thanks everyone for your support :)

hiya mascott hiya all!!! sounds like you are all doing great and the motivation is very strong there!! skinty that 5k will be a doddle after all the work you are putting in.

Lurkio dont allow a bad run to put you off. its the bad runs that make the good runs seem much much better!!! well i ran on sunday, 4 miles really fast. as i am bringing the knee back in to road running i was really chuffed with that. then an 11.5 mile cycle ride tuesday and 6 miles and a workout yesterday. just spent the day walking around woburn safari park with mum but am just about to don my trainers and head out and try for 4. very very muggy here though so wish me luck!!! :)
debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!

Thanks for all the encouragement, I'm surprised by how motivated I am about this at the moment

The real test will be next week when I'm back at work. I'd better devise a plan for the early morning run which I think will be better or quick teas for after work

I think I'll try for a run first thing to take advantage of the light mornings and then won't feel as tired as I do after work

As for calling me 'skinty', thats a new one! Was called fedup or fuas but now known as sparkles to put a more positive outlook on life :D and running and exercise are part of the positive outlook

This is such an enouraging and friendly thread - I like it a lot

Saturday morning is my next run, lets see how I get on

Well, I headed out with running buddy - I ran to hers (7 mins) then we did 54 mins of run for 3 mins walk for 2 mins as per her marathon programme, then I ran back home.

All in, 5 miles, although not all running. I am next out with her on Saturday, so will try and go round the block on my own tomorrow evening to remind myself that I can go the distance without walking every few mins!

I didn't run to work this morning as was going to do long run in the afternoon but that went out of the window as I was called to do dog walking. So at least I was out there walking up and down steep hills. If BF comes here this weekend he can look after DD so I will be able to finally get back to the long runs (she says...)

    Definitely running to work tomorrow.

    Well done "sparkles!"
If you stick at it you will improve so quickly.
Sounds like you have the bug.

Hypno, you seem to be settling into this new running schedule very well, and Pania, i like the cross training,,,,very sensible returning from injuries.

    Lurkio,
Well done on your preparation, you should be fine for the race. In race mode you seem to push harder and I am sure you will be pleased with your time.
I am looking forward to hearing how you do!

    Good Luck

As for me.....another 10k later when the heat goes off a bit..
