PS, Lurkio, if you can do 5 miles, you can do 6.2. Just don't set off too fast - it is really demoralising to do 4 or 5 quick miles and then undo all your hard work in the last mile or so because you have overcooked it earlier.

    Good luck with it!

That's the key, I think. Thanks!

I was going to do long run either this morning or yesterday morning but didn't manage to get out early enough before it got way too hot for me. So will continue my short ones to work in the mornings and hopefully will do long run either on Thurday or Friday afternoon unless I manage to sort out my child care problem and do Parkrun on Saturday.

Lurks - you will be fine, keep yourself fed, hydrated and rested and do gentle runs and then just enjoy!!

    Hi Marru and Lurks

I am aiming now to restart running after not doing so for the last 6 years

Any advice on how to start again from scratch

I can walk and plod no problems and used to be able to run 10K - just worried about starting and then working through the first stages of pain!

    Hi Sparky :D

The only thing that got me going was the "couch to 5k" program.. look for it on coolrunnings dot com

By the sounds of things it may be a bit 'basic' for you, but may heklpyou get back in to the swing..... :)

Did 5 miles yesterday morning - not all running by any means, but certainly more running than walking - my new running buddy is certainly making an effort and it is doing me nicely, as it gets me back into the swing of things.

We are planning to head out again tomorrow evening. She is entered for Berlin at the end of September (so we are madly doing some sort of couch to 26.2!) so I really ought to see if I can at least find myself a half to do at the same sort of time.

Have a good week guys :)

    morning all.
Its been a few weeks ....all is ok,:j

I think after the marathon, I was shattered, and needed a break. It just turned into too much of a break:o

I have been out at least once or twice a week, and no knee pain, so (despite the temp) I am heading out every other day this week, and 10k each run. Been "stuck" at around 5 miles each run recently, but feeling ready to step up. It feels a bit strange that it was only a few weeks ago I knocked out 58 miles in a week, but that fitness has gone...!

I have entered the Kent Costal Half marathon again this year, (Sept, ), so thats my next target, casn I break the two hrs at last. I havent ever got a half right.

Nice to see some new faces around, and old ones (hypno.i remember following your progress to the marathon ....must fell good to get back )

Just got back on here in time to gee up Lurkio for the big off!! Are you planning a practice full distance this week.? Also, any park runs..has my 24.40 gone?:D

Finally, its hot hot hot so , x
