I think after the marathon, I was shattered, and needed a break. It just turned into too much of a break:o

Nice to see some new faces around, and old ones (hypno.i remember following your progress to the marathon ....must fell good to get back )

The marathon knocked me for six last year - it was 8 months before I put my trainers back on again, by which time I had piled on a couple of stones and couldn't get into my running kit :o A few half hearted efforts since then, but never really got back into it, despite saying I wanted to!

But these last couple of weeks I have thoroughly enjoyed it - have been out several times, (losing the weight has helped, although I will NEVER look good in lycra :rotfl:) and really do think I am getting back into it :D

If I don't get in to do London next year, I am hoping to do either Brighton or Edinburgh, so a marathon is def on the agenda again. And this time I really really really want to be under 5 hours so have to work for it.

    hello everyone!!!

well what do you know the running club is still around!! :D superb!! I to have rejoined the realms of the runner after being thoroughly thwarted by knee related injury issues over the last couple of years, feeling strong and feeling good.
so far i have completed 2 x 3 mile runs with hypno and a 4 mile run on my own last night. i felt really really good and massively pushed the pace with np pain whatsoever!! whoop!
towards the end of this year and all of next i have signed up to complete 12 challenges in the course of 12 months. this includes london, edinburgh, london to brighton ultra, a triathalon and most of the endurance life coastal trail events in memory of my best friend who died last year.
So being back here will help massively to get my A**e off the sofa and get moving. fitness is a must or i will fail and i cant do that and let him down!!!

Happy running everyone!! good to be back :D

    hi Pania,
Blimey, you have some serious plans there.
I cut my run down to 5 miles today as I went out at 11.30 and it was HOT.!

Going out again tomorrow, and it will be the full 10k.....no excuses.....

Good luck to those of you out there.....

I did my first 30min walk/run of Day 1 Week 1 on C25K this morning and enjoyed it immensely - v.warm on return! Feel like this was the best exercise I've done in ages.

Looking forward to doing Day 2 on Thursday

Wished I'd looked at this thread ages ago, I kept seeing it and thought one day I will and eventually I did - feel very motivated to get there and the aim is a 10K after the 5K at the end of August

Let's see if I can kickstart my weight loss too

    Well done Sparkles!!!

I don't know where about do you live but have a look at PARKRUNS near you.

I went to free introduction day to the gym today and I think I will sign up as I can get membership through work. Am pooped thou, but aiming to run to work tomorrow. The good thing is that after I get my membership I can run to gym, have a swim and shower and then go to work. Brilliant!

I did a very hot and sticky 4.5 miles this evening. I was with my running buddy so we were doing 3 mins walk 1 min run as she is just starting out, and I got a bit of speed in by running to hers and home again.

I have entered the Ipswich Half Marathon at the end of August, with Pania, so need to get a bit of solid milage in as well as the run/walk stuff that I am doing with running buddy, so I have my work cut out I think to fit everything in!

Fedupandskint, well done on your first run today :T I hope it is the first of many :D

So do I!, I enjoyed it much more than I expected and I can't wait to try again on Thursday and Saturday.

Really looking forward to tackling it week by week and getting closer to week 9

I am prepared for the motivation to wane however the more exercise I do the better I will feel and more energy I'll have. Seriously though I need to improve my fitness ready for some planned challenges next year so running will be my CV and the stepper will be strengthening and toning alongside some yoga.

BTW this thread is very friendly and welcoming!

I'm doing the 30 day shred as well to try and get my fitness up. Tis hard work, but when I look more like Kylie than Shrek, it will all be worth it :rotfl:

    Well done Fedup,
whenever you feel like not running, just make that extra effort to get out there, as those are the ones that really make you happy afterwards....
and never beat yourself up if you do miss one if you are feeling unwell, or too busy, just plan it in elsewhere.
Sounds like you are very motivated...well done

Another 10k last night. Very happy as it was hot, and its a hilly route, 59mins is ok for me.
