no, cats, I just looked, and that is not fun, its plain mental!

what do you wear on your feet?
    you must loose your shoes!

I was sort of tempted though!

off for a 10 k later, good luck on getting out there everyone

Lurkio, your times are consistent with your 5k park run time. It seems you are well on target for under the hour. Keep going mate, and start believing! :T

How are our newbies getting on any news anyone?

    Nice one Lurkio:D

not much for me last week, just pottering about running and a play on the beach ( well sprint work ish) and been out for a 5 mile a earlier today.

This is definately for ALL runners, it's only been the last year I have been upping to silly distances ( the mud and silly races is something I've alwyas done). I race/run for the experience not the time (hangs head in shame ):o

Don't feel ashamed about that. The reason(s) why you run are of value to you and any newbie that come here. I run for a variety of reasons but the main these days is to be able to eat what I like - within reason. Although I'm a club runner, I know I'll never be as quick as the others (in my late 40s) but that doesn't matter, as long as I finish before they pack up and go home :D

Oh Cats, I took a look at the mudrunner site and I have to agree with Mascot. You are stark staring, gloriously mad  It does sound like fun but (like the Hell Down South - similar?) course, I think I'd come close to drowning in the water sections as I'm 'only' 4'11 :rotfl:

Besides October is winter. If they did it in September I'd sign up, titch or not :D

Hiya all! Haven't been on this thread for ages, but have been running, and improving. :) Will need to list my achievements at some point and become a regular here again.

Yesterday I ran my first 5.5 miles! Before that I just kept to the easy distance of 4ish miles. I do a group run on (some) Wednesday's, but every time I've been, they've done a 4mi route so never got to do longer than that. Yesterday I decided it was time to do something about it. I did my usual route with couple of extra loops and had no idea how far it would be ( I never map my distances beforehand as I like to run on how I feel, for the same reason, I do time my runs, but never look at the watch until I've finished). I've found this really usuful at park runs, as there's so many people hurtling past the start line with speed. Only done two park runs so far, first one in November in 28.07 and last one in May in 26.25! I was so pleased with that. :)

The mudrunner sounds like a laugh and have friends in that area so might very possible enter that one. And it's cheap! Can't believe the toughguy race now costs £170 to enter!

    welcome back

Great effort to take nearly 2 minutes off!!! well done!

I tend to look at my watch once at halfway(ish) on my runs, just to see whether I am up or down on 'normal'. It wouldn't really matter, as by then I'm in no position to speed up :rotfl:

    Evening All,

    Marru,
looks like you are well prepared for the big one! I have forgotton, is it a 10 k?
Have you set yourself a target to get round in.?

    Poorbabe
Well said, this site has been fantastic at encouraging me and others to achieve what they want for themselves.... and there is no better feeling than the post run pig out!! At 4.11 i would take a snorkel!

    Tirl,
well done on your park runs, and improved distance work....has your groupo got a longer run you can jump up to?
I have thought of running with my local club, but I am waiting to sort out my injured knee first.

Managed my 10k today in 58 mins, and waliked about 6 miles too....so pig out time....

    Lurkio.....how long to go!

    Happy runs all!

Thanks Mascott, yep it is 10k - BUPA London on 31st. I got my racenumber today. I would be extremely delighted with 1.10 but anything under 1.20 I am happy with. Don't know how much crowd I need to run around as I am on the 7th wave out of 9  :rotfl:.

    Hiya.
Went for the group run last night. We did the bleep test. Warm up was 1.5mi gentle jog mostly uphill, then bleep test, then running around skipping, sprinting, doing lines and squats, then 3 mile run back to the shop. Have to say, I was pretty knackered afterwards but very pleased I managed the run back as the longer route was optional. :)

Bleep test? Anything to do with swearing? I do that after every run if that's the case :)
