Maybe I need to join the other thread as it's gone really quiet here...

Anyway, since last Wednesday's run, this is what my running looks like

    24/3 37:02.67 3.84mi
    26/3 36:35.51 3.84mi
    27/3 28:23.66 5km

    30/3 36:00.76 3.84mi

Saturday's 5k wasn't a park run as bed won with that one in the end, but went for my own 5k at about 10am and was really pleased with my time as it didn't feel that quick. I was pretty dubious about the success of yesterday's run as not only had I run on previous Friday and Saturday, but had two matches on Sunday after which my legs felt like lead; they loosened up a bit after Monday's training but was hoping still that my friend would cancel the run. Glad he didn't though as that has been my best run so far, both time and feeling wise.

Its gone very quite over here!

Simply: I Love it when the description is 'undulating', it can range from a gentle hill to a gradient the size of Mont Blanc....organisers and their artistic licence.:D

    Tir,
well done on those runs, the more you do the more you improve (obviously)! once I was up to 4-5 runs EVERY week I noticed a lot of improvement, not in time that much, but in stamina.

Have you got a target or a race planned?

Am I allowed to post here if i have entered a 10k race and have very good intentions but can only manage a very shameful, embarassing, wheezing, puffing and panting, paltry 2 miles?:rotfl:

    Need some inspiration:A

    Hi,

I have entered to 10k race and at the moment only chance for running for me is a 1.5 mile dash from DD's nursery to work and back. Hoping to get longer runs when she goes back to school. I am sure someone will come here soon to give advice (except most of the experienced once are today doing Blackpool marathon)

    Hi Banwa....and Maru, Welcome!!

    Of course you are Welcome.

As you can see its been a bit Quiet recently, so new runners are needed. 10k is a nice target distance to aim for. Essentially nearly everyone can "get round" that kind of distance. The more you train, the easier it will become long term.

My wife is not a strong runner, but has set out a training plan based around days she feels she wants to run.

If you think you could get out say, 3 times a week you should see improvements quite quickly. Try and have a couple of relaxed (!) runs, and one where you go that little bit further. For most of us we have a Long Sunday, (or Saturday) run. Long could be just 1/2 mile longer than your last one. And dont worry about speed, just get through it.

If yoy get a chance, google Park Runs....see if there is one in your area. They are friendly and running in relaxed company is really helpful.

Good Luck, and let us know how you get on....

Ok, so it's been more than a week when I last ran, but I've been doing lot of walking and beach volleyball and when I went out on my own last Thursday I felt really good all the way through and was estactic about my time! Three session planned this week, but I might have to be flexible with them...

mascott no, haven't really thought about any big targets or anything and no races.

Hi Lurkio, great news on your time there. Have you been getting along to Park Runs, I seem to remember you thinking about them.

If you can push on to 3-4 a week you will see those times tumble.!

Tir, If you are having fun thats all that matters! But I did notice a difference once I booked a couple of races in.

    Good Luck with this week.

For me its a few easy going runs as I get ready for London. I think I might win!:T

Yes, done few - nearest one to me is a bit hilly, so the times aren't as good... I am currently hovering round the 26m mark. Have hit within 20 seconds of it on my last 4. Didn't make it last Saturday.... will go for a slow run on Wednesday and then down to Parkrun again on Saturday, see how we go. They have started a new one not too much further than my existing one and its FLAT, so I might give that a go next week

3-4 a week?  It takes me two days to stop aching :rotfl: :rotfl:How do I increase the frequency? Do I force myself out when I'm hurting? Will it get easier eventually? You can see I'm still very much a novice. Been doing it for a couple of years now, but haven't sought any advice before now - just plodded along
