    Lurkio,

Why not look for a nice 10k on runners world? Or be adventerous and book up to a half in the autumn. I booked up about 6 months before my first one and was fine, having run about 4 miles 3 times a week prior to starting my training.

Its great fun planning races, and it can get addictive...although my time has been taken up with the marathon. I am looking to touring about a bit doing halfs, a much more civilised distance!

that is scary talk...... I have never run 10k in my life!! I am increasing the distance of my slow run... err... slowly :D and maybe when / if I get to 10k there I might think about it :o - can't even entertain the thought of a half

10k would be a target to aim at, however.........

:DNeigh, neigh, and thrice neigh :D

Come on Lurky....no more lurking.....you know you wanna get that 10k done.:D

Seriously, you are going about it the right way, start off cautiously and build up, but that race on the calendar will boost your training.

Damn you, making me look  ;) :rotfl: :rotfl:

Right, there are two 10k's that I can get to on foot. One is September, when I will only be off my holidays a couple of weeks before, and I am NOT running on my hols. Far too hot for one thing

The other is at the beginning of July, which would only give me 2 months training :o

IF I was to do one, which do you suppose would I have the best chance of surviving? :)

(look how big that if' is ;) :rotfl:)

10k?? Yeah, go on....go for the July one. You will definatly be able to get round if you have managed a few fastish Park Runs, so plenty of time to improve your distance up to 10k.
Then you will have your marker down for all the others!!:D

    Which one is it...

C'mon Lurks - You can do it. :T:j:T:j:T

If I am going to toodle around 10k in the end of May (only started running in January and being slight overweight :o ) I am sure that you will fly through yours.

Off to update my training schedule....

Well, you are aiming to get back to your PB which I think is a pretty decent time.and I think with your plan you listed earlier that target time would lead on to a respectable 10k

Anyway, its all relative....you will set your own target to beat...and thats all that matters.

Marru, not long to go then..... all ok on the training front?
