Hi All,
Well done Lurkio,,,
I think a minute in a month or so is very achievable.
i did over aminute in three park runs last year. Once you get used to the technique of running them, you will shave the time down.
I "ran" the reading half at the weekend but it went wrong!
I was running in a group of three all aiming for under 2 hrs. The other two are very experienced athletes (although not long distance) we set up well and we were at 63 mins for 7 miles. At 9 miles one of the others copletely blew up. We decded to walk run with him, but we were all disappointed.
If anyone is thinking about a half, I would certainly recommend Reading. Its a lovely route, and well supporteed. Would make a good first one!
Anyway, back to the drawing board,,,,and on with the Marathon training due for 50 miles this week!Sealed Pot Challenge 2013: No 1898

you've lost me there already, I'm afraid..... :rotfl:
My 'technique' is to get round! Push myself for as long as possible, then 'hang on'.... I DID shave another 9 seconds off this weekend though
Shame about Reading....:( I think running 'with' people is a bit of a double edged sword. There to support and encourage each other, but if one goes.......
I don't think I'll ever get up to those kinds of distanceswell done and good luck with your training!

Exactly.....
If you just battle it out in the training the races come good (subject to not running with ill mate!). Today I was up at 6, did a 10 miler, then into work for 12 hrs....home at 12.30 pm!. But I didnt think of missing that run, and it sets you up for a good day.
By the way, KYCU, great time! Was that recent....Sealed Pot Challenge 2013: No 1898

Agree with you there Mascot: having an early morning run does set the day off to a good start. Was out at 5a.m for a 4 mile hill run......completely forgot I was going to meet a friend for a 8 miler later on.....:rotfl:Proud to be dealing with my debt:eek:

I'm so glad you peeps get out early too - everyone I work with thinks I'm mad for running at 5.30/6.00 but I find it's the only way to fit it into the day.
mascott - I'm in the big mileage weeks too. 51.5 last week and am due to do 55 this week - it's a bit tiring isn't it?? Still only a couple more weeks and we'll be tapering - last time I tapered I found myself entering all sorts of races for 'after the marathon' including another marathon. Think I'll glue my fingers together this time so I can't type - that should stop me doing anything silly. :rotfl:
Lurkio - I think we all have that running technique at first. When I ran Silverstone a couple of weeks ago it was the first race I'd entered that I felt 'in control' of. Like you all the others had been run, run, run and hang on.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

No secret mascott - I'm just not sure what I'm capable of. :rotfl: Rich has suggested that 4.20 might be on the cards but I'll be happy to get sub 4.30.How about you - what is your target time?
I'm running North Dorset Village Marathon on 2 May - it's a nice early (08.30) start  It's only a small race and is 'undulating' so I hope it's not too hilly. It looks very scenic but is a little too far away for me to run any of it in training.
Hi tirlittan - it's hard not to set out too quickly when you feel good isn't it? Good to see you stuck with it though.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
