Ok - now it has been confirmed that I am mad. I am looking for a half marathon for October. I have now four choices:

    - Stroud Half
    - Cardiff Half
    - Cricklade Half in Swindon
    - City of Salisbury Half

Does anyone have any experiences of any of these?

I did the City of Salisbury Half last year...it was pretty good fun. The course is *pretty* hilly, though - very little of the course is what you'd call flat - and I passed *a lot* of people walking up "the big hill" - it's also quite competitive - very fast average time, I think - very hard to keep to a slower pace, you seem like you're right at the back.

My BIL did the Cardiff half on the same day - he said it was really good, lots of support etc - and it was a lot flatter :)

Hi mascott - Not great :( I think I tried to do too much too soon. Tried to go out Weds and had to stop, was hurting too much.

Need to rethink the programme (not that I HAVE one, but... you know.....)

Hope to do another parkrun tomorrow, then might do my slow run Monday and proper run Weds - change it round a bit.... am flailing around a bit cos I have no idea what I'm doing :rotfl:

Very best of luck for Sunday btw..... :T

  • Hi everyone, I've got laptop problems at home and can't log onto the new site at work so have not been posting recently. :(

I just wanted to wish mascott all the very best for Sunday - I hope you have a lot of fun and enjoy the experience. :D :j
