Hi all. Long time as not done any running.

Went for a run last night and it was the worst run I've ever had! :(
After first mile I realised I wasn't going to make 4, so cut across earlier and decided for 5k instead. But really, really struggled. To be honest, I just wanted to give up, but that's not quite me, so carried on with a really slow jog. Not sure if it was more stamina related or breathing or what, but just found it really hard. I usually jog from door to door, but after I managed the 5k (or thereabouts, must check the mileage) I just walked the rest of the way. Never felt so uninspired to run. :(

That's exactly what happened to me the other week (except I wasn't aiming for 4m :o). Couldn't believe how slowly I did it......

However, the next one was SO much better. Give it another go. you might just surprise yourself :)

:DNeigh, neigh, and thrice neigh :D

Don't give up tirlittan, it's hard coming back to running after a break, impatience gets the better of you and you expect to be able to just pick up where you left off.
Stick with it and build up slowly, you'll soon return to fitness.

Is there a parkrun that you can go to on a Saturday?

It's getting lighter in the day now which should help, stick with it and you'll soon build up the speed and distances and you'll be really glad that you did!

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

I know, but I've already done two 4 milers that went just as before, easy and enjoyable, so was bit of a shock to struggle yesterday. I do have a park run nearby, but don't really fancy doing it when I can run properly...my time would be shot! ;) Going for another run on Friday, too busy till then.

It happens tirlittan, last Wednesday I had a belter of a run and absolutely stormed up the last hill back to the club after an 8 miler, then on Friday we did a gentle 3 miler and I was utter carp, stiff and couldn't warm up or settle into a pace at all!

We all have rubbish runs from time to time, guys. You've got to learn to shrug your shoulders and accept them. You will have great runs and mediocre runs as well. It's the great runs that make it all worthwhile, in a way. Wave goodbye to the stinker of a run you just did and look forward to the next one.

Funnily enough, that run has made me more determined to go out again, rather than a good one, cos I can't be getting that unfit (even if it's really nothing to do with fitness as such).

    Hello,

Here is my first attempt in making a training plan so please be gentle. I might be getting a place for Bupa 10 km in London 31st of May so that is my aim. Just to be able to run 10 km, not so worried about the speed. I will be doing Sport Relief 3 miles on 21st of March and then the week after that I have no chance of training so the training proramme will start from 29th March.

I can run Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Wednesdays and Thursdays I am dog walking. If I manage to get out on Sunday I would be doing the following Monday's training session and then on Monday would go for a swim instead.

For next couple of weeks I am running just over 6 miles per week so I thought that for my first week I would have:
    Monday: 2 miles
Wednesday: [STRIKE]Hill[/STRIKE] Bump training for about 2 miles
Friday: Easy long run starting from 2.5 miles

Questions are: how quickly can I increase the long run (0.5 miles per week?), how long would my longest run eventually be (10 km or longer?), When should I taper and what would that mean in this case?
"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Marru: can't help sorry am sure Rich and Becky will be along soon with suggestions ( me I make it up as I go along:D)

Fairly gentle, not so muddy, but hilly 4 miler for me today and then TDK training,....no pain from my knee which is still bruised but it has swolllen up something ridiculous.
Proud to be dealing with my debt:eek:

TOTAL: £6,437 (04/01/2013) slowly but surely it is decreasing:D

Our local Lidls have a special on Monday for seamless vest and pants for men and woman. Also seamless boxers for men and shorts for woman. All garments have Lycra and Coolmax. The vests are £4.99 each and the briefs, boxers and shorts are £2.99 each. I live on the Surrey/Hampshire border. It might be worth looking in your local Lidls to see if they sell them.
