Especially if its really rough and the tide is in :rotfl::rotfl:
Also my route directions are written on a piece of paper - it better not be too wet or I'll get lost
I just have this feeling its going to be windy on marathon day too so its probably good practce anyway0 -
Hello all,
Well I'm pleased to announce I finished my longest ever run of 18miles this morning. In 2:50(ish). It also puts my mileage up to 45 since Monday, also my longest weekly mileage, I believe. As I'm in Dublin visiting me Ma this weekend, that is what the weekly total will remain. So the rest of the day will be about trying to stay awake and stuffing my face
It's a big boost to know I'm not far from reaching marathon distance and the goal doesn't seem quite as daunting any more. The run went well, although the last few miles were REALLY slow! I went up a small but steep bump and stretched my ankle (yes the "bad" one) more than I thought it would. Felt a worrying twinge right away, but continued cautiously and ran it off. What a relief!
Well done finding those parkrun pics, rich. I didn't see them posted up before, so I assumed there wouldn't be any! That was me racing hard for the finish to get my PB (I think). As you can see the gap is less than the 4 seconds posted on the website!
As for the diet talk, why are you avoiding sugar becky? Does it not agree with you? I'd have thought it would be the fastest way to get carbs into you and preferable to the high fat foods? I had 2 pains au chocolat for brekkie after my run and I've got 2 chocolate muffins waiting for me, one for mid-morning and one for mid-afternoon. Oink oink.
And well done in finding two new "pukey" smilies in such a short space of time, everyone. Good work
2 rest days for me and I'll be sure to enjoy them. Happy running, everyone!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

:j:j:j Well done
It might have felt slow but was 9:45 mins/mile roughly so I'd say that was pretty good for a first time at distance
I dont like sugar because it makes my 'not sticking to the sides' issue worse, but also because I am hyper already and too much sugar just leads to a crash later - had sushi for lunchie anyway and feel tres full now

Congrats, BT!
It was always worth giving it a bash because having now completed it that is bound to have given you a huge shot in the arm and a feeling of being on target.
To achieve your longest run (by some margin) at approx MP + 1 minute/mile is the perfect session for this stage.
So job done, absolutely spot on.:)
Prepare for things to ache that you didnt know existed but at least you've got a decent rest without needing to worry about time ticking away.....Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Ah, OK. Well you should probably try to have lots of wheat (e.g. pasta), potatoes and rice. Bread is good, but can contain a lot of salt, so be careful. We need more salt than most people, but only a little bit more! As for high fat foods, I'm not sure they're very good for you even if you're burning off the energy. Probably best to watch the saturated/unsaturated ratio at least. Protein (e.g. sushi!) is good for helping your muscles strengthen quicker after exercise. Protein can also be converted to energy if it's needed. You probably know all this, but posting it up anyway as it may interest others.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
