But why?? In life there are nice people and less nice people but they dont sit either side of gender lines - so I dont get why excluding men makes something more approachable...
Indeed, it is more likely to reinforce the stereotype.
parkrun is a prime example of how inclusive running should be....all abilities, both genders, all ages....in a nice, relaxed, no pressure environment. And no cost!
Funnily enough, its the very same people that harp on about 'inclusivity' who seem to set up groups that EXCLUDE huge tranches of people. Go figure, eh?
And strangely enough, the Women's Running Network have no such gender restriction on the trainers so if its all about discussing things in an all-female environment that kind of defeats the point.
Edit: Although your original statement could actually be false cos I iz nice and you're not......and we sit on either side of the gender divide!:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I know that but some women do feel like that. So I can see why there is a 'market' for it... same with the women-only races, gyms etc. It's a shame but if it's a choice between exercising or not at all then I'd rather they were exercising - although, yes, it does seem like a short term fix to a bigger problem.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

Sorry what I meant was - both genders have less nice people in them - I'm a good example0 -
It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -

Unless the male trainers are as camp as Christmas or purely there as eye candy in skimpy shorts!
