  • And I might get classed as a cheepskate for using an old pair of socks to keep my little hands warm, but I think BT would have welcomed a pair here:

But it didnt prevent a pretty determined finish for a man in marathon training:

A quick update on our hero (heroine?) at Leeds parkrun, Tess Hornby-Smith.

    http://www.parkrun.org.uk/leeds/Results/AthleteHistory.aspx?AthleteNumber=7714

Building on her previous progress, she has now notched up a further 4 PBs in her last 4 races, meaning that she has taken a whopping 24 minutes off her 5K time since starting out 2 years ago.

What a great example of how to do things the right way, slowly, steadily and consistently!!:D

Man I thought my from 29:34 to 22:28 was good but theres always a show off!:p
  • Morning all, nice runs Simply and Becky and great pics Beertins :) Hope you can sort the food thing out Becky, it sounds like a pretty healthy diet (apart from the fondant fancies :D).

I could have eaten that trifle last night (although what's on top of it, looks like cotton wool?) - was SO HUNGRY! In fact most of this week I have been really lacking in energy and wanting lots of food.

Anyway, going for a 4 miler tonight I think, then 10 or 12 at the weekend - maybe I'll do 11 just to be awkward :rotfl:
Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012.

Set off to do 12, with an option to call it a day at 10 if you're not flowing?

Or what about 11.26? That sounds like a nice random distance!:)

  • I'm sorry, but I have to share this one. This is a FAQ on the Women's Running Network site:

    Why an all women group?
Our groups are fun, social, non-competitive and open to every age, stage, shape and size. We genuinely support the complete beginner.

Ignoring any of the other issues about a group like this, how the hell does that answer relate to that question?:rotfl:

And on another subject all together - Rich here's what I've eaten so far today and what I ate yesterday for comparison (which is fairly typical):
    Breakfast:
weds - porridge, pear, black coffee x 2
thurs - porridge, 2 x passion fruit, 2 x brown pitta breads, pack of sugar snap peas coffee x 2

    Lunch:
weds - innocent stew veg pot, 2 x pitta bread, coleslaw, diet coke
thurs - bacon and chicken sandwich, punnet of cherries, 7 fondant fancies (I know!!!)

    Dinner:
weds - innocent veg casserole with a tin of sardines
thurs - probably cous cous with sardines, salad and baby corn

Now I'm having two problems - I am hungry all the time but I cant eat too close to running as I get a stitch
I feel like there is enough there to fuel me, or should be, but I am still losing weight

Help! Besides eating more sugar, which I dont want to do, I cant think what else I can add to my meals - I dont really cook all that often as cooking for one without a freezer is annoying, but I clearly need to be getting more calories in somehow!!!

Try sushi, it's light but filling at the same time, I find that after eating it at lunchtime I have loads of energy for my evening run.

The M&S sushi has NO raw fish in it!

Oh, btw I love the Innocent veg pots too! :T
    ...Linda xx
It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
