Eccleshill do a lot of hills in their training which I'm glad about because otherwise I'd totally avoid them.
It's built up my stamina no end!

Morning,
Welcome to julie and lurkio:D
Good runs all, hope you're all well.
Good to be back out this morning, decided to do a 3 miler today just to get my legs going. Not sure about my calculation for average mile, no GPS so had stopwatch.
Thu 18/2 3.26 miles 31:02 (9.51/mile?)
Ooh and I might to have to change a race, I don't think I've got enough time to build up for Telford on 21st March it's 4 weeks away and haven't done more than 6 miles yet. What do you think? Planning on doing 8 miles this weekend.0 -
Can definitely still feel Saturday's efforts in my legs - hard work last night, not helped by the fact it was very damp and cold with soggy snow - blah!
Any advice on how long my long run should be this weekend? I'm thinking 10 or 12.. or should I just see how it feels on the day?
3 weeks till the Kilomathon... eek.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
As for the comments whilst out running, I find them to be mainly positive. I'm a bloke, but I'm only 5'8" and currently hovering around 11st 9, so not exactly threatening. One old lady recently said "You're doing ruddy well" on my xth time passing her. An old boy, who seems to spend his whole Sunday walking, asks me how far I'm doing that day. I always get nods and "hellos" from fellow runners and I do the same. That's in my local area, anyway. In and around central London I tend to get mainly ignored! The (very rare) comments from kids get responded to with an invite to join me, or a suggestion that they might benefit from a bit of exercise themselves.
We've had everything from laser pointers aimed at us from cars, cans lobbed at us to the usual cliche's such as "The pub's that way!" (the pleb pointing in the direction from where we've come accompanied by much mirth!) and my personal favourite "Come on fat @rse!"
We get a lot of comments from the elderly, last week an old chap was coming towards us while me and one of the ladies were gabbing whilst running, he said "Never mind your chatter, get going!" "I said "Come on then, after you!"
You're right beer tins, inviting them to join you is quite fun because they either display a look of sheer horror or show their worth my running in the other direction :rotfl:
Last Wednesday was nice, we were on the final long slog up Kings Rd back to the club and we passed this young asian lad walking down the hill, as we passed he clapped and said "Come on, you're nearly there!" He wasn't being sarky either, he really meant it which was lovely.
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -

I think after Gaisby Lane yesterday and Carr Lane on Friday I'll need a rest

Nearly not quite on the pace...
9:31mins/mile
Calculation for the maths nerds - divide seconds by 60 2/60 = 0.03
divide 31.03/3.26 = 9.52
multiply 0.52 by 60 = 31
Add seconds to mins = 9:31 mins/mile:D

My sis (k_bagpuss) has pulled out of the kilomathon, I'm glad because it would have been silly to attempt it, she's only just started training again after a chest infection after Christmas.
