    I have indeed!:D

Its getting a bit close...12 seconds over 5.8 miles.

But she's cheating! Using racing flats just to try to beat her hubby..tut,tut!

I think he should call it off now at 2-0 up........once she gets back into 'olympic athlete' shape again he's toast!!

  • Btw Tom Williams, the other presenter of Marathon Talk, ran 18:32 at Leeds last Saturday.....I wonder if he'll be there this week? Could be a tempting target.;)

...we're not all speedsters like Becky, Rich and beer tins...

Unless I'm very much mistaken, you're ahead of me on the WAVA table?! I'm no speed demon in the SM30-35 group.

As for the comments whilst out running, I find them to be mainly positive. I'm a bloke, but I'm only 5'8" and currently hovering around 11st 9, so not exactly threatening. One old lady recently said "You're doing ruddy well" on my xth time passing her. An old boy, who seems to spend his whole Sunday walking, asks me how far I'm doing that day. I always get nods and "hellos" from fellow runners and I do the same. That's in my local area, anyway. In and around central London I tend to get mainly ignored! The (very rare) comments from kids get responded to with an invite to join me, or a suggestion that they might benefit from a bit of exercise themselves.

Thanks for the reply, rich. I'll try to take the slow run pace right back to avoid becoming a "one pace" runner. I'll start with today's 5 miler and leave plenty in the tank for tomorrow's 18, which I will make sure to start ultra slow.

It looks like you're taking your avvie a bit too literally, Linda!:rotfl:

Its hilly enough round there, there really is no need to go and search out the BIGGEST hills you can find. Although going up to Wrose via Carr Lane, rather than Gaisby Lane, is probably even tougher. One for next week perhaps...?;)

Nope, we're doing Carr Lane at the end of a 5 miler on Friday!
Eccleshill do a lot of hills in their training which I'm glad about because otherwise I'd totally avoid them.
It's built up my stamina no end!
    ...Linda xx
It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
