Hope everyone has had a good weekend?

I am trying to mix my training between JogScotland runs (46 mins last week) and gym - body combat/pump & step to try and build up my CV.

As one of the new 'females' I hope that I have not rocked the boat by joining the chat. I have been 'running' with JogScotland for 5 years now, only being able to run 5 mins at the start - now up to the advanced 2 group.

I love running but find it difficult to get out on my own, so use the gym as an alternative.

My Son is on holiday most of this week so won't be able to get to the gym in the morning. If it stays dry - think I will try the, me run he cycle technique :D

Keep safe while out and about.

PS - anyone else use the nike + iPod app? gutted this week when I deleted my run by mistake, so not sure of my distance!

Park run gave me a nike+ band and pod for free, but I've never managed to make it work. I bought a little velcro thing that attaches it to the top of my laces, as I wear Asics. (I love Pump and combat too!)
  • 16 miles in the bag. 2.37. After saying I was feeling ok it was actually quite tough even in the early stages. Had to stop at home to get a drink at 10 miles and managed to get back out there and I never thought I would stop so all ok. Legs are stiff now and a bit crampy. Good luck if you are out there. I have had enough of this weather now. I think it will stay like this until a week before the marathon and then it will be a heatwave.

Red - Great effort with your 16 miler. You probably gained 2 big boosts from that a) that you can surprise yourself sometimes with what your body is capable of and b) You are now able to train for the rest of the build up to the race safe in the knowledge that you can complete it.

I bet you felt good no matter how knackered the muscles were!;)

Mascott - Another great 16 miler. I would normally cringe at the thought of doing 16 miles at 30secs/mile FASTER that planned marathon pace as, historically, that would be considered an almost impossible session to do in training.

But, for a first marathon the rules are a little more fluid and it really shows that you are well up with the game. You now know that you can afford to go a good deal slower, if you need to, when attempting longer distances in the rest of the build up.

    Thats a big step forward.....:)

Becky - That 25 mile routes looks okay, because you arent on the race route for the last 5 miles or so. But where does it start? The South Pier?

    Hmm, not sure.

The age classifications seem to be a bit random too, but you could try re-submitting the result and using the 'Notes' section to state '3rd Woman'.

It seems to take a while to establish the link to your profile for them to be certain that they've got the right athlete!

Its interesting looking at my parkrun results so far this year. Ignoring the one at Woodbank, which was rather snow affected, the times have been incredibly consistent:

    18:48
    18:45
    18:48
    18:57
    18:55
    18:52

Considering that these have been at 6 very different courses and have all been done as 'train through' races, which basically means that anything can happen, you wouldnt normally expect to see that tight a bunching of the results...

It might be because there are a few women with my name so they are confused...
