Well we'll see if you're still the second best runner on the thread next Sunday wont we :p

    Binge runner :D

lol. Seeing as am paceing someone round I doubt I'll be anywhere near. Plus with uni no serious training till at least mid June for me, and even then it will be heavy crosstraning. Getting ready for the tri-athlon. Which gives 2 months to full look at the running. Might have a extra 1/2 in nov to really go for it.

  • Good running beer tins and Rich. Well done Becky - another excellent performance :D

Nice to see you back sea - it must have been very frustrating being out of action for so long.

Good luck with the race kms - hope it goes to plan.

My 'internals' were still playing up yesterday(think I'd picked up a tummy bug) so I'm giving Bramley a miss today - am going to have a Rest Day and rehydrate.

    Happy running everyone :D

I kind of assume someone on here will be able to help me but please don't laugh I know this is probably a silly question...
I want to go to a local running shop to get a properly fitted pair of trainers/gait analysis and was wondering whether it would be expected that I turn up with my current trainers or whether they analyse my gait (or whatever) bare foot?

Take your trainers with you vixstar as then they can see where the wear is on the soles and heels and give you better guidance, they'll ask you to wear them on the treadmill too. Enjoy shopping!

They will film you with your current trainers (inc running socks if you have them), and work out what you are.

Then they will supply you with some trainers to try, and then film you again.

Expect to try on & run in whilst filmed, 6-7 pairs before you find one that you really really like, in price & fitment.

A nice 3 miler (at a guess) run this evening, knee pain (dull / fat section felt under knees) went after about 7-8mins. Knee's aching now afterwards.

Guess ive done myself some harm in the past, all this GNR and all that.

Going to stay at 3 mile loop for the next 2-3 weeks until aerobic fitness (stitches, waist muscles pain due to twisting) comes good.

    Damn my sides ache..

Wow! Well done! Only one lady finished just ahead of me at Bromley, so if you head down there it may be a win for you!

Cool, I'm pleased with that. How does that explain your progress, though!?

    I've already won there :p

On this score I am the exception really - look at Rich's usual 5k times and they have been static since he started training with bulk mileage but when he targeted a race he ran the second half of dewsbury 10k much faster than any of the parkruns. The 5ks are a kind of competitive training run - useful benchmarks but getting out to the do the session is far more important that a pb :D

Simply - sorry to hear you're still not well but I completely agree that was a good decision - running a 20 mile race on dodgy tummy is a seriously bad idea :o Hope you feel better soon :)

I had an interesting run today - woke up hungry didnt eat brekkie and just took water out - even 7 miles in my stomach was telling me 'FOOD' rather loudly but I went on and completed 16.5 miles which while it wasnt the distance I wanted did the same thing since I was completely out of glycogen (since the system was empty to start with). I feel fine now though - so obviously the legs could have gone further if I had the fuel. This tells me also that I need to eat on marathon day, but that I also need to use energy drinks less since I was craving sugar not carbs, to adapt my body to running without sugar. All in all a very useful session and takes me to my biggest week for a while as well (although not over the 60 mile mark but hey ho). Will post the whole week in a moment :D

Alias - sorry to hear your knee is still sore but its good news it wears off when running rather than getting worse the further into the run

Uk - I'm sure you'll be fine next week. What time are you pacing?
