Some nice ideas there Mascott all being taken on board :D

Linda - wow you really are doing well at that run club - its great when you find what works for you and makes you want to go out isnt it :)

Alias hellllllllooooo :) Hope you're settling in well! Sorry to hear getting back into running is a bit hard going - keep chipping away you'll get there! Good luck with the halfs - I know you are busy at the moment but do let us know how you get on please and we can add you to the 2010 wava table :) Jealous of your weather though!

Rich, I think consistency and friendliness are the two things that help here.

we could look at developing a way of measuring peoples consistency. can we "virtually" reward people for sticking to their plans.

how about a few real life get together where we try a different park run each month

i am happy to pay and offer technical help. I have a scientific calculator and a set square.

still trying to think of a good name....

by the way....skived off tonight! no consistency prize for me.

The reward for consistency is feeling great!!:D:D

I think that is one of the main points....people can have all sorts of different motivations for getting involved, but it must be THEIR motivation.

You see no end of people on RW who want someone else to motivate them, to help them get out of the door etc etc. You cant motivate someone if they're not motivated themselves.

And once someone has got the self motivation, no further incentive/reward is needed as we all know. The 'feel good' factor does the rest.:D:D

Dont worry about the name - eRunning is fine and is workable re domain names etc.:) Leave Becky to that stuff...she's good!;)

You skived? I'm sure you mean that you optimised your training/rest balance?

  • I love this comment trying to summarise parkruns over on RW:

No drugs. No alcohol. No one acting the tw*t. Just run around like a loon when those who hold their manhood cheap are still abed.

Its so unmodern its positively archaic. You dont get paid, win a prize, get anyone cheering you on.

    Nothing

!!!!!! yer ego, go home its over!

Its sport as it must have been when the only people who ran around where chasing food or being chased for food.

  • It looks as though the planning is coming together and it's encouraging to see so much enthusiasm. Definitely think we should have a 'Rant' section and perhaps a 'rant of the week'. :)

    "Rich's Rants"? ;)

Really heavy tired legs last night, ended up only doing 2.65 miles (quite hilly) in 26:23. Feel stiff this morning but not uncomfortably.

    16 miles tomorrow... :D

The fact that you were stiff last night should mean that you're in A1 condition ready for tomorrow...:D
