Okay the t and cs say:
Just so that you know, you own any copyright in the text that you post to our chat forums. However, when you post text, you expressly grant us a perpetual, unlimited free license to republish that text on our site and to redistribute/make available and/or sell that text in print or electronic form anywhere in the world as part of an edited compilation or otherwise.
Therefore in theory all people could authorise use of their own posts0 -
I know, I know - I'm a weirdo
If I find a thread I'm interested in I read it from the start even if it takes me weeks - probably because I'm not a telly/film person and my OH is. This way we're both happy and I get to learn loads about running
Anyway I digress, I agree that we're quite restricted on here and it is difficult to find information. I end up bookmarking specific pages so that I can find them again when I want to check up on details and I'm conscious that the same advice is posted time and time again when new peeps join in.
I've really appreciated the help and advice I've received on this thread but it doesn't really 'fit' with money saving (and I very rarely venture onto different parts of the forum.
It would be good to have a home of our own and I'd be more than happy to contribute both financially and in workload.
Blimey you two - by the time I've responded to a post you've moved on half a dozen more. I really must learn to think and type faster - oh and stop my OH from talking to me :rotfl:2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Okay so thats three in the yes camp - anyone lurking/normal posters/newbie want to jump in?
Simply my idea was to make everything as free as possible - we would need to draw up a plan of action before thinking about moneys - but yes EA membership is extra and I think thats fine to have a place to talk about running and an affiliation as seperate things if that makes sense0 -

I think you're right in terms of setting up a nucleus first to see what sustainable interest/momentum there is and have affilliation as an aim for when it is suitable.
After all, the £2 unaffilliated fee is likely to disappear from a lot of races in due course so the main benefit of affilliation would be the LM place.
So, yes, 'free as possible' is good!:D
These things often take quite some time to develop a life of their own...but you never know! There's probably only 10-15 regular posters on here anyway so its not as though you need loads of people to make it workable and more informative than at the moment.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hello Marru - you are doing C25K arent you? How are you getting on?
How would you feel about us all upping and leaving being a newbie - have you been motivated to take up running by us posting or just posting on here because you have taken up running and you saw it by chance?0 -
Hello Marru
Becky - yes, that makes sense. I understand that it's early days and I can see the benefits of keeping it as free as possible but I wanted to make it known I'd be willing to pay a small annual membership (if required) as I feel that the benefit(s) I get are worth it.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

I'm in for tthe new running site/forum thingy.
Nice slow 10 miler today roughly 10 min miles, and a good flurry of snow and gale force winds to liven thigns up, then 2 hrs of TKD (or cross training ) to really kick the last bits of the flu out of me.
Anybody else doing/ have done the Mont Blanc marathon?Proud to be dealing with my debt:eek:
TOTAL: £6,437 (04/01/2013) slowly but surely it is decreasing:D0 -
