Thanks rich. Well, it's the result of the sprain, rather than due to any extra work, as the workload has dropped dramatically over the last week! However, it does seem to be getting better, so I think I'm fine to push on. Just wanted some other opinions on that. I'll try the hot/cold thing too. How long do you repeat that for?

As for Becky's 10k time - yeah, don't I know it. I'm already sweating over my 5k time as it is!

Something like 30 secs in each x10.

    Indeed, Sunday's 10K time is worth 22:21 over 5K....so she's coming after you!:p

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

    They were obviously homesick.

Bought in Bradford last Saturday, taken to London on Sunday....and already they're hankering to come back!:p

 beer tins starts planning his Saturday morning race. Banstead Woods is supposed to be fast, isn't it?

Speaking of Banstead Woods, I won't go if this is the kind of scene I might stumble upon: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/7198231/Gardener-beat-married-lover-to-death-after-finding-out-about-her-other-affair.html

  • Going back to that 500cal/day RW thread - Love the responses, Linda!

  • No run for me last night - too sleepy.. still feel half-asleep now but will hopefully perk up later for a four-miler.

My work-mates have decided that they want to do the Race for Life in June so I may join them for that mainly to support them - sort of interested to see if I can do the same route faster than last year too. £12.99 though!
Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012.

It just adds to the list of bodies discovered on parkrun courses - by the nature of their locations I would expect this to keep happening.

You can always deduct a 'body discovery' adjustment to your time if you have to run around one.;)

Banstead is actually a hilly 2 lap course, but fast due to being net downhill. I managed 18:45 on NY day and 18:48 at Richmond next day, which on the face of it is a much faster course.

You'll work your lungs, thats for sure - but should get a decent time.:D

Why not persuade them to do a parkrun instead?

Nobody sponsoring will care whether its a 5K 'Race For Life' or a 5K parkrun.

The difference will be that the results, and hence proof of completion, will be available online almost straight away AND there will be £12.99 per person more to donate to charity.
