Becky at this morning's Parkrun
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
Becky is just turning into a greyhound!
Nice pic Linda! ha ha - does Becky go 'beep beep' as she whizzes past!0 -
No run for me. This knee is aching today and I just think 14 miles isnt going to do it any good
I am due to rest on Monday so I will carry on on Tuesday.
Not good, but it is the first run I have missed (even in the snow) for two months so I shouldnt beat myself up.
Good luck to the rest of you.....Jealous!!:(Sealed Pot Challenge 2013: No 1898

I did a 5k this morning but it was utter carp!
I was freezing cold, stiff, couldn't relax into a pace and warm up so running stiff made my right leg hurt.
In addition I've got tummy ache which doesn't help so returned in a very bad mood feeling absolutely poo
I've had a nice bath, hopefully running club will be better tomorrow night.

Sun 31/1 20 Miles 03:38:09 (10:54/mile)Hooray - after a couple of weeks of feeling tired and losing my running mojo it's back
I tried a new route - further afield with less loops - and felt great up until 17 miles. I started getting a bit tired then but it was really only in the last mile that I had to grit my teeth and get on with it.
mascott - I've got a Karriemore (sp?) rucksack with a bladder that holds 1.5 litres; I usually carry about 750mls water on my LSR's but don't drink it all. I've got some bottle belts but don't find them too comfortable - I find they move about too much. I think it's just trial and error to find what suits you.
That didn't sound like fun Linda- I didn't realise how cold it was this morning and went out in short sleeved shirtHope you feel better soon.
Fantastic performances from our Parkrunners again - well done Becky, beer tins and Rich :T2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
I've spent the last month reading your inspiring posts and just thought I'd say hi.
I'm a 30-year-old guy beginner in Paisley, Scotland. Had a few stopstart attempts at trying to run over the past couple of years but managed to get a bit of momentum going in December and carried that into Jan. Ran 2 5ks last week, the first in 32 mins, the second in 34. Had planned to try the Glasgow ParkRun on Saturday but was feeling under the weather and had to pass in the end. Hoping to get back into the routine again. Had struggled with motivation running round a local park but since mapping out the 5ks on mapmyrun I've found things a lot more straightforward. For a start I can't go out with the aim of doing four laps of the park then chuck it after three as the way I've done my circuit I have to keep going if I want to get home! Also it's a bit less boring running the streets than doing lap after lap of the park.
Anyway, it's great to see the progress you've all made. Hoping I can show some signs of improvement now too!0 -
Afternoon all:D:D
Unfortunately we have lost our broadband so this is just a quick post on the phone.
Simply- Great news on the body wanting to play again. Another 20 miler bagged must feel good, especially at Abingdon marathon race pace.
Mascott - Always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to knees.
Linda - As you know you usually have a really good run shortly after a disappointing one so you've got that to lo forward to.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

This afternoon's efforts were rather pleasing.:D:D
Becky ran yet another 'fastest 20 miler ever' in 2:57:34 (8:53/mile) and that was despite feeling tired from a bit of a hangover.:p
I had a bit of a eureka moment myself knocking out 25.0 miles in 3:14:21 (7:43/mile).
The really big plus points are the negative split- 1:37:29 and then 1:36:51 for each of the 12.5 mile splits.
On top of that the last 10k in 47:36 was faster than any last 10k of a marathon I've done, including the 2:48 pb.
All done with no drinks - very, very, very happy and now its McFlurry time.:j:j:D

Hello and welcome glaw5  Well done on some consistent running - I was stop/start for years too until last year. Once you get into a routine of regular runs it seems to all come together
Yes, feels great Rich - it was my fastest 20 miler too - by less than a minute :rotfl: Ha, ha I typed that and then looked down and saw your next post - Becky that's an amazing pace!!!!!2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
