yeah good idea,
as it is my route dips backs back at about 6 miles and then its round town for a couple, so i should know by then if its all going wrong!
well done on that park run.. i know i cant concentrate on pace at the moment, but once this marathon is done i will get some advice on how to change my training.Sealed Pot Challenge 2013: No 1898

i am going to have to carry water for my long runs. 13 miles was ok but wouldnt want to go much further.
i might have to dig out my camel back, or do others use those bottle belts.
i guess i could just carry a 500 ml bottle....
what do you long runners do.....?Sealed Pot Challenge 2013: No 1898

I have a bottle belt mascott but as I've got fitter I find that I need less while just going out for training runs with the run club.
At races they always have water and energy drinks anyway.
The belts are great because they are lightweight and can hold car keys, mobile, change etc... as well as a drinks bottle or two.

Good luck with tomorrow's run, Mascott.
Re drinks, the max you will need is 500ml although it should be a good deal less on a cool day. Dont drink for the sake of it as you wont come to any harm through dehydration over the duration of a long run......
Personally, for the first few long runs while your body gets used to the distance I'd take a 500ml bottle, take a few sips over the first half of the run, and then ditch it no matter how much is left.
Because long runs are done at relatively low intensity you do eventually get to the point of not really needing drinks. I havent used any on the two 20 milers in the last couple of weeks and will be attempting a 25 miler tomorrow without any so play it by ear but dont worry too much about the consequences of under drinking. On the other hand, over drinking can be fatal.......

One or two photos from this morning:
This is an excellent indication of how Becky's running form has improved in recent weeks:
And this is a great example of how parkrun is helping the grassroots of running. This young man is 14 or younger and ran 22:32. If that wasnt impressive enough he was actually only 3rd in his age group in a close fought race resulting in the first 3 times of 22:14, 22:18 and 22:32:Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I got lunarracers which are the next ones down in lightness (i.e. the lightest ones) from lunagludes
Glad to hear you're getting back out there and enjoying it0 -
My God Becky, you're a blur!

Ah - I certainly don't need racing shoes yet! I'd look a right idiot, coming in with the last set in racing shoes - hilarious! But I'm a sucker for looking at the latest gear!
Suffering from 'rotten boss syndrome' at the moment, new boss - making life hell. Gets you fed up about everything, but I've made a conscious decision to only let him make 35 hours of my week miserable - and no more!
Oh, and a group at work want us to run a Race for Life as a team, for a colleague who died of breast cancer. I'm happy to do a run, but hate the thought of fund raising for this specific event. Does anyone have any hard and fast info on how the funds are allocated etc. Then I can maybe go back and say, let's run it, pay our entry - but send all donations we collect directly to chosen cause - or her family.
I don't mind running as a team, 'cos the new boss is going to 'walk' the 5K, (he's fat too!) - so I can't possibly miss the opportunity to run 10K at the same event!0
