Linda - runs sometimes go well, sometimes they dont...just draw a line under it and move on.

However, if you're doing a good few miles you need to get some carbs in your system afterwards. Fish/protein is great for the muscle repair but wont do much for replenishing your enegy levels.

I know but I had to force myself to eat the fish & eggs!
I had a giant baked potato with coronation chicken at Leeds Uni yesterday :D

I often like to eat sushi at lunchtime before a run because it gives me loads of energy!
    ...Linda xx

EDIT: I did have 2 bananas an hour before the Wed night run
It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
  • Oh I forgot to download marathontalk yesterday, thanks for the reminder Rich. Feel really good this morning after yesterdays session not even many aches really. I always stuff a bannana down my neck after a long or hard run I find it helps replenish my energy quickly.
I have done 27miles this week and I'm going out for a recovery run later of probably 4ish miles.

    later peeps

  • I'm surprised at the way Mr Audenshaw fits his mileage in though, considering he often works 7:30am to 7:30pm. He tries to run 12 times per week with one rest day, with a peak mileage of 110 miles.

He must permanently have his kit on!

Thanks Rich, I'll have a listen over the weekend.

  • You have to love this comment - due to a bad back Haile Gebreselassie has just finished the Dubai marathon but failed to achieve his target of breaking the world record.

He still won by 14 seconds in 2:06:09!!!!!

Probably the fatsest ever marathon by a bloke with a bad back.:rotfl:

  • And this week's 'Marathon Talk Winner Of The Week' was, drumroll, Darren Wood!

Most people wont know him but there is definitely a parkrun theme to these weekly winners - Mr Wood completed his 250th parkrun last Saturday.

The guy's a legend. This is his world, we just live in it.

Now for my usual Friday question: Anyone doing a parkrun in south London this weekend? Will probably do Bromley, as it will be marginally less soggy than Roundshaw!

Sushi?! I'd be starving  Had a tin of soup and a big naan bread for lunch yesterday, and a little bit of Kendal mint cake before I went for run, was a little bit wobbly and absolutely starving when I got back though!

Strange how everyone's different. I don't eat anything before I go out for a run. I normally find I have enough energy. But I normally have a big dinner, so the energy from that is waiting to be unleashed the next day!

    Wishing you all good runs!
