Oooh, it's been busy on here - it's taken me ages to catch up!! :D

I did the first 2 miles of my hilly route this morning but it was just too icy to carry on so I looped back onto the flatter cycle path. Loads of fun trying to keep my footing and had to slow to almost a walk getting up and over the railway bridge. :rotfl: Got plenty of bang for my buck mileage wise this morning Rich!!

Wow, I didn't realise that you'd done so many miles this week Becky - very impressive. :T

And what's with all this wine drinking??? I'm jealous - I've only got to have a few glasses these days and I get a headache!! Running is bad for drinking :D

Got to admit that was one of the stupider things I have done: started on usualy route, thought, 6miles nice and slow i this weather but......4 falls in 2 streets isn't a good start :eek:and then got knocked over ( gently) by a muppett in a BM who was trying to get above 3 miles an hr on the ice:mad: so a few more bruises to add to my growing collection.
Proud to be dealing with my debt:eek:

TOTAL: £6,437 (04/01/2013) slowly but surely it is decreasing:D
  • Oh dear catspaw that's not good - hope you are not too badly bruised!!

    Fri8/1 10K 46:59 (7:34/mile) (Pulse 88)

That was okay for the first half of the run but we are now in the middle of another complete whiteout, which started about 20 minutes ago and has already stopped traffic in it's tracks. You can also feel the air temperature plummetting again....

Towards the end I could feel my head getting heavier and eventually realised that the snow was actually freezing to my head - what a weird feeling!

Simply - A very commendable session in the circumstances. Be ready for some unusual soreness if you were slip sliding around. And running is GOOD for your drinking, getting completely pie-eyed for 33p has got to be good.:p

Catspaw - I take it that it was very minor, hope you're not too bruised. There is a problem with drivers who simply dont understand grip and try driving as normal. You can actually drive pretty fast in slippy conditions (just watch those rally drivers go) but if you do you have to know where the grip is.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Sorry Rich that made me laugh - I can just imagine you running round looking like a large ice cream!! ;) Great running though.

That's a good positive on the drinking too - I hadn't thought about it like that. :D

Oh dear, a 3rd Manchester run has been cancelled.

    So, thats:

    Heaton Park OFF
    Bramhall OFF
    South Manchester OFF

and just our race at Woodbank still standing.......................

And Gorleston has moved to the beach as per the back up plan.

I'm not entirely sure what that leaves, but I think there is probably just two, Woodbank and Leeds in the north (and Leeds must be highly questionable) and probably just Roundshaw, Banstead and Basingstoke in the South. (although Bromley are still trying to hold an event)

Now knowing that Banstead is on that is definitely the one to go for in the south...very likely to be PB potential if its frozen over. There will be very little snow on the course because of the tree cover and it is a net downhill course, much faster than the hilliness first suggests.:D

Tq - I know its not moving saving but can you pay for a first private pysio appointment and then see what they say while you're waiting for an NHS one?QUOTE]

Would love to, but just no way we can afford at the moment- husband re-trainging as a teacher so huge salary cut- major money saving for us at the moment. Saying that have a birthday coming up so may ask parents for contribution :-)

That sounds scary catspaw. I hope you are ok. I bet you'll feel really stiff and bruised tomorrow. Ouch! BMWs are useless in snowy weather, they have rear wheel drive and its useless if it is the slightest bit slippy. Its a good job they were only going slowly.

Rich - Snow frozen to your head? That must have looked very strange. Did you get any funny looks at all from motorists or passers-by? Come to think of it, they would have been gawping at a runner out in the icy weather anyway, let alone a snow-encrusted one! :D

Simply - well done you for having a go at hills today. Have a pat on the back. Your training seems to be going very well. Very consistent, I'm impressed.

I was chomping at the bit to get out today but didn't fancy another treadmill session, so I got well layered-up and put my trail shoes on. The paths that are less well-used were OK, but the busier streets were like glass! I had to keep crossing the road to get to a rougher bit. You all know about Long Slow Runs, well this afternoon I did a Short, Slow Run. :p I got a few funny looks, even though I wasn't snow-encrusted!

Only forecast to be -5 tonight, much milder. I would like to do a longer run tomorrow, but I'll have to have a think about whether it is a) possible, and b) worth it. I don't want to get injured.

Good luck to tomorrow's Parkrunners. Stay safe people.

Not only do i have a 5k planned or 9am there is the small matter of a indoor mile at 1pm followed later on by 200m and a 60m dash. God only knows why i am bothering with all these short races later today ;) 10k's hurt enough as it is, 10 milers are a nice speedy run for me.

Becky there is fat chance of me racing you to a PB as i hav't run in a fortnight and i'm not exactly at racing weight yet ;) No idea how fast i'll be at anythig tomorrow but the one i do want is a sub 7 mile.

Suppose i had better go to bed what with a 4:40 alarm call ;) See you tomorrow i'll probably have a fetch top on top of or erm 2/3 other layers ;)
