Don't worry I won't be hard on them -I'm sure my inexperience didn't help and anyway I'm too pleased with my result :D

But ........ dead bodies on the course

The one at Leeds was only about a month ago. They simply ran a few metres extra around the white forensic tent and merrily carried on.

The one at Wimbledon was about March last year but because they are quite narrow paths at Wimbledon the race had to be cancelled.

    From the race report:

.....We've had many weird and wonderful challenges over our 112 events but none quite so challenging as a giant white tent plonked right where we want to be, covering who knows what from public view and guarded by Mr Plod himself! With the option of a three lap race starting and finishing in the same place or running as normal with a slight cross-country detour to avoid said obstruction... we went for the latter, which perhaps contributed somewhat to the slightly slow times, and 143 people spent the next 30 minutes or so parkrunning :)

  • Well my trail shoes did a nice 9m on monday. Got snowed in yesterday it was at 'wading' level so I couldnt run. Its not looking good for my 10k at the weekend I reckon. I managed to get in work this morning after I dug the car(s) out last night in preparation. I'll post a photo up when I get home if I remember. Might try a 4miler today as I expect I will have to pick OH up as shes probably bus/walking to work rather than trying to get her car out of the street. We get abandoned by the council there is still ice under the snow from before xmas.

Morning all, was hoping to head out for a 10 miler today: well drive to meet some friends and head out for the 10 miles..........only problem is I have knee deep snow on the drive and it's still snowing ( my poor little rust bcuket of a car).
Mind you roads seem to be clear. Is it cheating to have a day off if the snow is that deep:D,?

Knee deep is not wussy - I prob wouldnt go out in that either - although I would go for a walk instead (it will be tough but you'll get loads of muscle benefit form it) :D

This should be re-named the sledging thread! :D

I have ordered some of these...

    (the Yaktrax Pro)

hubby has some and they're fantastic for walking/running/hiking in the snow and ice!
(Actually, he has the Kahtoola microspikes)

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

catspaw - I agree with Becky; it might be a bit tough going if it's that deep. We only had a few inches overnight and I found it was like running on sand this morning - it doesn't look like Tempo pace does it??

Had a nice 4 mile walk to work after I'd showered and eaten too; I could have done with some of those shoes Linda.

Take care if you're out running today peeps; it's a little on the slippery side. :D:D
