BENEFICIARY: The proceeds of this race will be donated to local youth
sports programs.
Wouldnt it be great to see a race based on that model in the UK with any surplus feeding into supporting the parkruns.
The qualifying standards could be moved as appropriate to get the correct sized field. Lets say a field of 5000 was appropriate at £20 entry. That would give prize money of £5,000, £4,000, £3,000, £2,000 and £1,000 to the first 5 in each of the men's and women's races, along with 4 spot prizes of £4,000, £3,000, £2,000 and £1,000.
You can bet your bottom dollar that such a race would soon develop into being the premier distance race for UK runners and should, ultimately, take the national championship away from the LM, leaving it to get on with what it seems most interested in, ie being a fancy dress fundraiser.
I wonder......:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

It's snowing here now too, will still be out in a couple of hours. Running with hubbie today as he is home early due to the poor weather.0
