My friend from Slovenia is Eva as well by the Ev - I always liked it but she found it annoying as everyone called her Ava by mistake0

I usually get called eeeeeeeva, hate it!0

I read you as Eeeeeva, sorry! While we're on the subject I'm pronounced Tett not Teat!Alias_Omega wrote: »Easier then you think.
First step - Get that place (either way)
Second step - Talk about running it for charity with friends and family. Let is sink in. Once they see you start running training for it. They will offer cash.
Third step - Create a JustGiving webpage, post it up on here all the time, then mass email work.
Fourth - Local Newspaper coverage near the time
Trust me, once you can run more than 8-10miles 3 times a week. People will soon start to sponsor you. Get a charity box and put it on your desk at work. Pick a charity thats close to home. The first time i told someone about my charity & what it ment to me, i started to cry. It was well worth it.
I chosen Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, my dad died of it when i was 1. My sister & nieces are carriers, so something very close to me.
Once i told people why i was running it, and who for. They soon sponsored me £3,£4,£5.
Anyway, ill sponsor you £10 right now to get your going....
Where do i send the cash?
Thank you Alias for the encouragement - You're right, a colleague of mine did it last year in aid of Alzheimers (sp?) after her mum had it and I was definitely more inclined to sponsor her. There are no charities that spring to mind that are close to my heart, I'll mull it over though, if you're going to do it someone may as well benefit!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Alls what went through my head was looking fit for the papers, i was a flat bloater when i started running, man boobs and all. So on the day boy them legs were huge..
Different story, cold outside, winter blubber is back on and too many mince pies. Too icy to run at the minute.
Cant afford to get hurt...

Well that makes me feel better - I'm not fat but I'm not really fit either (although I do a lot of walking) - I entered the ballot last night and told my boyfriend and he came over all concerned that I wouldn't be able to do it, going on about what a big thing it is blah blah - which I KNOW and I know I'll need to start training now, was a bit demoralising thoughWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Hi Tete,
There is nothing wrong with starting from an unfit and/or overweight position. I was 4 stone heavier 15 months ago and I'm sure you're a little fitter than that.:p
You've also taken the correct approach in terms of getting plenty of walking under your belt first which will strengthen all the tendons and muscles etc ready to embark on a running campaign.
However, I dont really see how you would be demoralised by anyone saying its a big thing and going to take lots of hard work. You seem to know that anyway and appreciate that if it was going to be easy it wouldnt be much of an achievement.
On the flip side, magazines and forums which try to paint a rosy picture of how easy it is to run marathons/halfs have a lot to answer for in terms of the injuries they cause.
With the right approach you'll be fine, which means consolidating at 5K first and then slowly lifting that to 10K, then 10 miles and then the half....but 13 miles is a heck of a long way to run.
Good luck.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
