  • Hey - thought you'd all run away and hidden the thread!

Just back from Scotland, loads to do, so will catch up on the thread later, but just to report I finished the Loch Ness 10K - 1:03:52 was chip time 1:04:22 was gun time - whatever that means - I prefer the 1:03:52 myself! so wanted to be under an hour, but hey - couldn't make it to the corner 4 months ago, so next time eh! So chuffed I finished.

    Will chat later!

    Well done bj, great work!
  • Ukevas - I know that feeling after doing the marathon on the sunday we got invited to watch a baseball game, it was great to watch but agony to sit cramped up in small seats for a few hours. At least i was walking a little bit better by the time i had to catch the 10hour flight home!!

I'm fine today thanks evab; no aches or pains or any sign that I ran yesterday. :D You're obviously not complaining enough about your sore throat if your dh won't make you a cup of tea - you need to lay it on a bit more to get some sympathy ;)

Welcome back beertins, how did you find running in Spain? Was it in an area you were familiar with?

Blackpool??? ........hmm, must look back to see what date that is on!!

Thanks (to evab too). Running in Spain was fine. We started the holiday in Barcelona and got a hire car down the east cost and ended up in Alicante for the last week. Mrs. Beer Tins' parents have a holiday apartment there (well, they're there about 3 months a year since retirement). I know that area, so had some running routes already. The most interesting run was in Barcelona. The streets are on a grid system, so it's fairly easy to find your way around. I did a route that took in the Sagrada Familia (a must see if you havn't been). While the sights were great, I did find myself jogging on the spot at traffic lights very frequently, and ended up being out for about an hour and a quarter (not sure what distance exactly). Still, it was enough to keep the engine running!

    Simply,

I made it out. Boy it was hard work. Only 4 miles, had to stop abuot 2.8miles to stretch legs off. Well well overdressed for the run. Was sweating at the end of my road.

Suspect the "cold" is making me short of breath, as that distance & route i would knock out no issues, probably not needed a shower when i get in straight away either.

Beep test on wednesday afternoon, so ill go out again tomorrow in short & t-shirt and hopefully put in 6-8miles..or until i get that back of the legs pain.. :)

Meant to say, weird how you forget "winter" things over the "summer" (if you can call it that in this country :)) - was sat down after my run today watching the steam pour off me, thinking "ooh, that hasn't happened in a while..."

Well done Hannah on the training, you'll see your times start to fall with the speed sessions built in to your schedule.

I've been freezing today despite it being mild, had to go to chemist to get some tablets and was wrapped up in a t-shirt, jumper and fleece. My dh came with me in shorts and t-shirt!

I've ordered some energy gels and energy drink, only a small amount to try it. I will try on a longer run at the weekend so I'll know what to expect during the marathon. Also being MSE I went through Quidco!

Only 13 days Idio! 19 days until Snowdon arrgh holy f***

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I take it you are looking forward to it evab? That's just enough time to get over your sore throat. :D

Well done for getting out there Alias; don't overdo it though if you're not feeling 100%. ;)

bj - your chip time is the most accurate because the chip on your shoe registers as you cross the start and finish lines. Gun times are less accurate because if you start near the back of the pack it can take several seconds/minutes between the starting gun going off and you crossing the start line.

Well done Hannah; did you enjoy the fartlek run? They're my favourite sessions.
