I'm back from the running club. Tonight we jogged for about half a mile where we were split up into groups. The fast (and thin) people shot off and my group of slowbies (of which I'm by far the slowest
) had to do 2 x 1 mile circuits at a 10minute mile pace. Now I don't have a garmin and didn't take my ipod but I know I wasn't doing 10 minute miles! I dunno what I was doing wrong tonight but I had a right pain to the left side of my lower back, and my calves felt like lead! So I found the 2 miles quite difficult. Then we did a couple of sprints between lamp-posts and then jogged back to the clubhouse. I can't go on Thursday cos I'm in Cheltenham but I really must get out for a run myself this weeekend.
Good wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.0 -

No news from the other Loch Nessers? hope they made their marathon.
Ha, ha, well I'm on a rest day tomorrow so I certainly won't be getting up early to kick anything.Good luck with going out at 06.00 - it was very dark this morning but I found it quite invigorating once I got going.
A few peeps have gone quiet at the moment - do you think they stowed away in Rich and Becky's luggage???2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Well I have been really slacking since 10miler on Sunday- have spent 2 days curled up on sofa with sore throat and feeling generally unwell, even the 1/2 mile walk to take my daughter to school seemed a struggle. Feeling slightly better this eve, should I try a run in morning? only 12 days until marathon!
K_bagpuss; sounds like a challenging session- hope back and calves feeling better?
Simply just noticed you have a 5k in 2 weeks after marathon?!- I'm impressed, what is your plan in terms of rest after marathon etc? (hoping to steal advice)(Family of 5: 2 adults & 3 children aged 7yrs, 4yrs, and 18months)0 -
Im after a GPS watch thing.
Can anyone recommend one?0 -

k-bagpuss - well done for getting to running club, sounds like it was hard work. Do you have a rest day today?
tq - I'm not an expert but I would leave it until you feel well enough. How about a nice walk today instead to see how you feel?
Re. post marathon - I haven't got a clue!!! :rotfl: I knew it was a bit ambitious entering a 5k so soon after but it looks like a fun event and if I find it too hard I'll get krider to give me a piggy back.I've also entered a half marathon mid-November but if I'm not sufficiently recovered then I'll give it a miss. I wanted to get some more races booked in as motivation to keep running after the marathon but don't know realistically how long it will take me to recover.
Alias - I've got a Garmin and it is brilliant (expensive though). I tried a Timex and it was so unreliable that I sent it back.
kms - looking forward to your race report.
bj - how was your early morning run??
evab - hope you are feeling a bit better today.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Morning all, off sick from work again have a stinking cold so that's probably why my run didn't go well on Sunday. Hope to be better tomorrow as getting fed up already.
Well done on getting to run club kb, you'll find your progress will move quickly.
Hope you feel better soon tq, seems to be a lot of bugs going around.
km I'm looking forward to hearing about your run too!
Have a good day Simply, hope you have a good run today if you're going out.0 -
I pulled 5 black toenails off last night!
The legacy of the GNR.
I used to have lovely painted toenails, now they are all shrivelled up
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
Simply - oh no - I couldn't get up! It was so dark, and I convinced myself to be home fast from work instead!
kmstuart- hooray - so glad you did it, looking forward to your report. I so enjoyed the 10K - I should write myself a little report to look back on.
Linda- well, I know the toenail thing! But they are our trophies! Actually, Rich advised space in shoes and good quality socks and I haven't had it happen again.
have a great day everyone!

Hey all
I havent written on here since page 2 J
I’m doing a 16k tonight but my ankle still swells up pretty bad for anything longer than 5 miles but I am determined especially with the Cardiff Half on the 18th October!!!!!
Does anybody have any sort of injury experience – I’d like to detail the pain I have and if someone could advise that would be grand J
I probably shouldn’t have played football on it 2 weeks ago as that made it a whole lot worse
Cheers
Paul0
