Im just glad my last really long run is over... I mean 26.2 for a medal and t-shirt makes sence.....22m on a random sunday morning for nothing is just plain silly :)...

All done without a taper and carbo loading which leads me to belive I just might be ok at the 26.2 :D...unless i wake up in Athens and its 30oC + :P

  • You'll do great in Athens Uk - tapering makes such a difference. ;)

I felt so strong today after reduced mileage this week - I can't wait to see how I feel after the next two weeks. :D

Cheers. It was my 7th timed 5k and, for the first time, I didn't do a PB. However I was 50th which is my highest placing for parkrun. I also raced a few people for the finish and beat them :D.

    Post 2,

So, there we are its October and its getting colder.

Current clothing i have is running shorts & a running wicker top thing. As the temperature falls, i was wondering what people recommend to purchase for the cold weather & where to get it from.

Can we do it in the form of..
What you wear, and what it costs...
    Alias

    Ronhill Yellow L/Sleeve shirt
    Ronhill tracksters

Old jumper over the top if its cold

No waterproof protection, really need to sort some out.

Depends how cold it is, innit.

At the moment, I'm still in "summer" gear, so s/s T and shorts.

When it gets a bit colder, I'll move to l/s T, or l/s with s/s over the top. Once it gets to being "proper cold", I'll add a pair of thin gloves, then when it gets *really* cold, I might wear some padded gloves - although I generally take them off after a couple of miles anyway.

Just wear shorts on my legs, unless it's proper freezing, or I'm planning on running somewhere wet, then I have some blue thermal "smurf tights" I wear under shorts...might try and get some trackie bottoms this year, though - although they're not really something I understand :)

All of my tops/base layers are either Helly Hanson or Nike (ooh, I got an awesome top from lidl last week though, so will be wearing that this year :)), bought from outlet stores. My gloves are just my MTB gloves, don't think it matters, really. Just need something easy to wash :)
  • Well done on the parkrun mrsplinter and your highest placing :T

So Alias - have you got yourself out of the door yet? Go on, you know you want to!! ;)

    Clothing:-

I'm with Idio; I'm still in summer gear at the moment - s/s t's and lycra shorts.

When it gets colder I'll move to l/s t's with either capris or long tights - I buy most of my gear from sweatshop online in their sales so £10 - £15 for t's and £20(ish) for leggings. I buy mainly Ronhill clothes as their sizings are quite accurate and they fit well.

I bought a wind/rainproof jacket for £20 in a sale earlier in the year (JB sports I think) but I have hardly worn it at all. Same with the gloves I bought as I find that I soon heat up and have to take them off.

Hope you soon feel better evab.
