Isoke asleep on the bed having helped knit, file papers and investogated house and plumbers leg! Thank goodness I cut her nails or it could have been painful!! off to knit with ghost whisperer!;)
Always poor are you coming on Sat? would be lovely to meet you!!
Have just printed a load of patterns off...also noticed Wilkinsons have cheapish wool too!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Oh Pam, sorry to hear your sad news
.
Chalky, lovely lovely blanket.
Well, I still feel rough as a dogs bum!, but did manage to drag myself to Lidl and get some of their wool (the sock wool and scarf wool mainly, avoided the popcorn type stuff as not sure I could knit it well!), came home and scoffed bacon rolls and am now zonked!
I also see a crib photo on wooligans (yahoo) so once I get my carte d'or tub I know what to aim for.
Still holding off posting anything just now what with the strikes (and not really being out that much either!) but will have a nice bundle to send to at least 2 of the charities soon.
Hope all are getting ok and bye for now.

Hi peeps
Many thanks for all your support today, I passed on your thoughts to Pamspal, she is very appreciative, Maytaurus a special thanks to you for the lovely words, Pamspal was about to phone me to ask this wonderful thread if anyone knew of some words which she might use so the timing was perfect.
She’s been busy all day helping the family & so I got the vino out ready to help her unwind, then she ‘phoned to say I was expected for tea at 7pm as feeding me always makes her feel better, what could I do but oblige !!
I took her some fluffy wool & asked her to knit a scarf for the Nursing home fete – I thought it best to divert her from the baby stuff just now – she swapped it for some pork dripping which she’d spotted on her travels & thought of me – yummy, totally forbidden breakfast for me tomorrow, dripping on toast. Apologies to all of you who can’t bear the thought, I think it’s a Yorkshire thing,! Hee! Hee!
I hope that the unwell are improving, & the OK’s have had a good day!
Lots of luv

pam, dripping on toast, yuk, and i'm a yorkie girl lol
chalky, love the finished blanket.
finished another little ted today for shelly, and started another jumper for myself, even tho i have only done the back on the last one, i got bored of it. my attention span isnt great at mo, also been packing today, as we are going to a caravan in skegness tommorrow til monday, a few days away will be a lovely break. wanted to go for full week, but one of sons has a court appearance next wednesday, so a long weekend was best we could do. feeling a bit better, the thought of getting away, and being with bf for a few days, and not having to cope alone for few days with the boys helps. wish bf didnt have to work such awful shifts, as wen he finishes its often too late for him to come and stay over, as i'm often in bed before he finishes work. tonight for instance he dosent finish til midnight, and then its half hour drive to mine, i'll be well asleep by then
shaz xxxenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
OK, maybe pork dripping on toast isn't a Yorkshire thing! It's possibly a generation thing as well. I remember many Sunday suppers at my Aunties, after an evening of card games (back in the fifties) when we had bread & dripping. It could also be more regional, I'm talking Sheffield area - heavy industry so a definite "working class" environment. My late DH was a Lancashire Lad & refused to even try it - he was so revolted with the idea :rotfl:didn't know what he was missing!
luv

Hi all.
Pam - You must be a lot of support for your friend at this sad time. Lots of (((hugs))) to the family.
I used to love dripping sandwiches when I was little (with, horror of horrors, plenty of salt!), and I'm a Somerset girl! My DH remembers it, too, and he's from Devon. I haven't had it for ages but now I feel really tempted!
Shaz - I hope you have a lovely time; the break witll do you good. Good luck for your son at court.
Orkney Star - if you don't start feeling better soon, perhaps a trip to the doctor is in order? Hope the nasty bug goes away soon.
Kinsey - loved the 'what not to crochet' link! That bikini will be so 'on-trend' next summer, don't you think?!
Well, I started a crochet poppy yesterday and couldn't understand the pattern, so I shall have another go today. Mind you, it was late in the evening and I'd spent hours helping DH plasterboard a ceiling, so I wasn't really in the mood and my hands were hurting!
Don't know what I'll get done today. We have good friends coming over for lunch, which we're looking forward to, so I expect that will be most of the day gone. Tomorrow, we've been invited by the mayor of our nearest main town, to a 'new arrivals' (we've been here nearly seven months!) afternoon, which includes aperitifs with him and the other local dignitaries. We may meet some more English people. We'll be given a guided tour of the town, too. We've explored a lot of it but there's bound to be something we've missed. The locals are very proud of the medieval quarter here - there are lots of beautiful five-hundred year old half-timbered houses (half of which are still lived in), so we're looking forward to discovering a bit more of the history of the area - it's where the English and French did a lot of fighting with each other in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. I hope they're not going to use the afternoon to get their own back on us!
Anyway, I think I'll sit down now and have another go at a poppy - now that I've had my second cuppa!
Will call back later.

Arrrgh ... dripping on toast ... think of your cholesterol ... my dad loves it (and yes mioliere with plenty of salt, eek) but I’ve told him it’s been banned by health & safety & you can’t buy it anymore, he grinned, so I think he knows it was a tiny fib hee hee
He also said ... I’m 85 you know & a little of what you fancy does you good’

If French/English relations are discussed, ,,, I’m not sure you’ll want to mention this
When Charles De Gaulle decided to retire from public life, the British ambassador and his wife threw a gala dinner party in his honour.
At the dinner table the Ambassador's wife was talking with Madame De Gaulle:
"Your husband has been such a prominent public figure, such a presence on the French and International scene for so many years ! How quiet retirement will seem in comparison.
What are you most looking forward to in these retirement years ?"
"A penis", replied Madame De Gaulle.
A huge hush fell over the table. Everyone heard her answer... and no one knew what to say next.
Le Grand Charles leaned over to his wife and said:
"Ma cherie, I believe ze English pronounce zat word, appiness !

A woman is knitting as she drives (which is totally unsafe, and I don't advocate it). Pretty soon, her speed has crept all the way up to 95 mph--and she passes a parked police car. The car gives chase. Officer Bob turns on his siren, but the woman, oblivious, doesn't notice him. Finally, he pulls up alongside her car and yells, "Pull over! PULL OVER!"
She looks at him,... looks at her knitting,... and yells—
"NO! It's a CARDIGAN!"TO EVERYONE
