I'm so glad it's half term :-) Lot's of time to get knitting and stuff done :-) I home school, so I look forward to school holidays just as much as the children do lol.
Thanks to everyone who gave links etc, much appreciated. I've just started the hood to the baby jacket, so hopefully will get that all done by this weekend, then I will have a go at some charity stuff. I'm thinking of doing some veggie warmer things that my mum is doing for age concern. I can put them in my handbag and have on hand to do if I'm out anywhere :-) I'm a big promoter of knitting in public whenever possible :-)

    Thank you :-)

    Hello everyone,

Wish I’d had a lazy day – been a bit stressful today – doorbell rang about 11 this morning & there was Pamspal in a state of shock – just had news that her great niece (7 weeks old) has died suddenly, its only a couple of weeks ago that I was sat cuddling her. Please send your positive thoughts to us here in Tankersley we need all the support we can get to enable us to give it to the family.

I visited Mum yesterday & today, she’s not very well just now, has severe tummy pains again and the painkillers are making her more disoriented. Ever seen anyone try to cast on to a torpedo shaped tablet – I did today, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry! Think laughing’s the better option eh!:D

Haven’t knitted or crocheted a stitch since Monday evening,it took me a while to write up the poppy pattern yesterday, even though most of it was already there – makes me appreciate free patterns though! Then in the evening I started looking at my bookmarks, I have a load of “blogs with patterns” saved & I spent a good couple of hours browsing those – I love them, colours, ideas, nice piccies – especially Attic24 – I just lurve that site, I so want an attic/snug room which looks out over beautiful countryside or, even better, out to sea! I’m in heaven when I can see the sea!

At my nursing home meeting yesterday, I mentioned the poppies and the squares for the Union Flag, got a very positive response – apparently, there is a resident who is an expert crocheter plus a couple of good knitters – so I may well have some more volunteers – I am waiting for my CRB check to come through then I can have a little knitting group session and see what they want to do! Meanwhile, there’s loads of interest in the poppies I made so I suggested that I could sell some at the home & split the proceeds with the British Legion and the group LH are supporting.

Currently I’m putting together a load of patterns for quick knits that could be sold at the home’s Autumn/Xmas Fete – seeing as we’ve found loads of Tea Cosy patterns I started with them. My plan is to persuade all the relatives who can knit/crochet to make something for us to sell. I’ll even give them the wool if they’re prepared to knit a fluffy scarf. (Got some Whisper from Readicut, + loads of oddments I’ve picked up over the last few months).

Oh eck! In total waffly mode, so sorry peeps! I needed to offload a bit!

Psso – glad you DD is improving - re Kemps – some real bargains – I haven’t knitted the Bamboo but I’ve seen / fondled some garments made from it – gorgeous, I’m sorely tempted!

ISOM – seems like well rid!

Thesunroom – Welcome Aileen– just spotted you as I came to post this, I do hope you enjoy visiting with us. We are very staid and subdued as you can see.:rotfl::T:rotfl::beer::beer::beer: :j:jSorry mines a bit of a miserable post but this lot are used to me letting off steam!

Roamin' - got the s/sheet, done the blog thing, got exceedingly grumpy with it - its now in the sulky corner waiting for a reprieve:p rather have the Tshirt & read the book:rotfl:

    Maytaurus - catty pic - :j:j:j:T. Ta!

going now before I get told off. #3 is required ;)

:rotfl:I think I'm allowed 10 minutes to eat my lunch! They're not SUCH slave-drivers at my work! My boss reads the paper online while she has her lunch and I usually check my email, and occasionally read threads on here.

Don't worry, I don't sit at work surfing the web (though actually, that's a thought ) - oh, ok, maybe not...

Just popped on before going to bed and saw your post Pam. Mega ((((((HUGS)))))) to you and Pamspal. There`s not much anyone can say which will help, but you know as well as I do that the support you need is here, for you and Pamspal when you need it.

Oh Pam, how sad, that poor little scrap. Thoughts and prayers with you all.
I do hope your mum recovers soon, it's so hard to see them like that isn't it, but I agree it's better to laugh than cry if you can. At least the knitting and crochet group should be fun, lots of brownie points to you for doing that.
    love and hugs xxxx

As a butterfly graces our lives with one moment's fragile beauty,
so too has a baby's presence blessed you and those that surround you
with their short life, and unique spirit.
May you find peace, and joy with each butterfly that passes,
knowing that your baby lives on in the hearts of all they touched.

    Hi everyone.

Pam - what sad sad news. I was so sorry to hear it. That has happened twice in my family (to my brother and my cousin) so I know what dark days lie ahead, and I wish I could find the right words. Please send my thoughts and condolences to PamsPal and the whole family. I hope your Mum starts to feel a bit better soon. Well done to you for promoting the poppies at the home, and I hope it's not long before you get the CRB bit over and done with, and get going with the group. The ruffle scarf is an easy quick crochet project that your ladies might like to do. I'll try and find the link to it and post it here.

Maytaurus - what beautiful words. I'm sure they will bring a lot of comfort.

Welcome to Margaret52129 - I hope you will join us on here.

Welcome, too, to Aileen from the Sun Room - I'm sure you'll like it here!

Well, I made a start on the poppies last night; they're great for when I haven't got a lot of time - which seems to be the permanent situation here at the moment! The blanket I'm doing for DGS is getting really big now, but it's difficult to do when Louis is sat next to me because he thinks I get the wool out for him! I have to scrunch it all up by my side and keep the ball of wool on the 'wrong' side for me, IYSWIM, so it's not the most comfortable project to be working on when he's around. Still, we managed to find a way to keep him occupied last night - we are going to hang a mirror on the little sitting room wall but last night we just leaned it against the wall on the floor so, of course, Louis caught sight of himself in it and couldn't stop looking at his reflection, trying to work it out! He kept going behind it looking for the other kitten - it was more entertaining than the TV!

Anyway, I'd better go and put the kettle on again.

    Will call back later.
