I have knitted my first chicken jumper :D but I have had to keep it for personal use lol!

We have an ex-battery hen who has never quite recovered her feathers as yet so has some big bald patches. So at the moment it is on her and covering over the patches that haven't grown or keep getting plucked out/pecked at. Hopefully it will give time for them to grow back. She doesn't seem too keen on it right now but its doing the job well.

Best wishes and hugs to all who need them :)

K2tog - yes, besides never having any sea on the beach, WSM's other claim to fame is that horrid wind! It's always there waiting to grab at you, especially as you turn the corner at the Winter Gardens end of the High Street! Still, the last time I was there in February, the town really seemed to have a buzz about it. The Grand Pier is being rebuilt and the planting around the town was looking really beautiful even at that time of year - just like it was when I was growing up there. I shall be back there in September and hope to explore a bit more.

DON - would love to see a photo of your chicken in its new jumper! How lovely that you've rescued an ex-battery chicken.

Chalky - the wedding photos on your blog are great! A beautiful couple and some lovely puppies, too!

Well, I potted my bedding plants and got through three 40 litre bags of compost. I still have some plants left over so I'll have to buy some more tomorrow. I've also repainted the lovely old china cat that a dear neighbour gave me years and years ago. It was looking a bit worse for wear but now has a new black coat and I need to find some green paint for the eyes. It's moved with us to several houses over the years, but looks just right outside by the front door.

I've also helped with some more plaster-boarding in the dining room, so it's been a busy day. We didn't get time to do the lawn at the holiday home but will do that tomorrow.

I'm off for a shower now then will sit and do a few more hats. I'm still not sure how to put my squares together but will spend some time trying them different ways tomorrow. I really want to get the cushion finished soon, then start on the throw while I carry on with more hats and squares for Chalky and Mrs Twins. I'm sure I'll have some great inspiration when my books come from Amazon this week.

Anyway, hope you all have a great evening.

Hi everyone, hope you`ve all had a great Sunday. Must admit I`ve had a lazy day today. Woke up with a thumping headache which only really cleared a little while ago. I think it must have been the driving, woolly excitement and babysitting of last night which got to me. Not good for an old lady like me.:)

K2tog - re. the wool purchases. I had to be quite restrained and not buy too much (although I was very tempted) as I knew Lou was bringing some wool for me from HQ, and we didn`t have very much room in the little car with all the baby paraphernalia and us as well.
This is what I rescued though. 1 x 500g ball @£5 of this for Jayden things.
    http://www.alternativepolperro.co.uk/online-shop/the-robin--range/robin-dk-acrylic-500g/robin-dk-powder-blue--1771--500g.htm

and 3 x 100 g balls of this. They were £1.75 each or 3 for a fiver. Bargain.

The people there had brought along so much lovely wool it would have been very rude to go away empty handed. ;)

I know I have lots of wool already but most of it is in `lots` bought for specific things, usually jumpers for myself, and only a few odd balls from previous projects. Well, quite a lot of odd balls. I suppose I`d better make lots of stripey hen jumpers or something with it, or lots of lovely Attic 24 type squares for cuddly blankets.

Well I have made a start on the wool Lou gave me and done the rib of a jumper in bright orange, and there will be some green stripes as well I think just to jazz it up a bit. Kids like the bright colours don`t they. Hope so anyway.

Maytaurus – I think the next jumper I do will be that blue one you just posted for a change from the Oxfam one. Thanks. BTW Jean told me you`d met up as well. She`s certainly doing the rounds isn`t she.

Off to have a look at chalky`s blog and maybe Kathy`s too.

Goodnight all. Hugs if you need them.

    Hello to everyone.

Just seen the photos on your blog Chalky. looked like a lovely, happy wedding. The flowers were beautiful, and nice to know the pups all went to good homes.

Sounds like you had a great time at the show Elaine. That ball of wool looks nice.

Thanks for the pattern links maytaurus. The crochet one looks interesting.

DON79 I'm halfway through a chicken jumper so it.s nice to know first hand that they work. As Kathy said, do you have a photo?

morning everyone, hope that you are all well and have survived the weekend. i had a very scary morning this morning when i heard that gatwick was closed (until they said only for landing, but the planes were taking off! phew!) i am really longing to go back to our little house in france where there is no noise and is peaceful with no noisy neighbours playing loud music at all hours etc. golly i sound moany so early in the morning.

i am really getting into the hexagon pattern and have now half finished (dont have any buttons at home) 2 and have 2 more on the hook. they are soooo easy if you can be bothered to follow a simple pattern. it is so exciting once you start putting them together, they look so cute.

may, thanks for the alternatives to crocheted oxfam jumpers. i have found a few others on various sites and i will try them out and then, if they are easy, suggest them here.

elaine, sounds like you had a good time.

kathy, i do get the angloinfo updates, thanks. by the way, it sounds like you have been working at the builders mate stuff again. i hope that you are paid in wool.

don - well done on the chicken jumper, would also love to see it.

k2tog - the ripple blanket was done with double dk thread so it would be really warm - however, it got to the stage that i had to crochet in my favorite chair in my study as the blanket got too bulky to move about. it is very warm and cosy and last winter as i was in the last few rows of ripples, i sat under it and had to turn the heating off as it was so warm. well, it certainly will keep us warm next winter.

by the way, the flat we are living in is infested with moths (the clothes eating type) does anyone have any clues as to how to get rid of them. mothballs - i think they eat them. moth spray- i think they think it is perfume. i have not tried lavender, but will bring some back from the garden in france, but it is so frustrating trying to deal with them. if you leave anything on the floor, they lay eggs under it and all of our clothes are showing signs of being munched. please help if you know how.

okay, after that desperate plea, i am going to bid you all a wonderful day, and will try to catch up with you before i leave tomorrow.

    hugs
