Good morning to one and all--- It is actually sunny here in Devon
Thank you so much you lovely lot for all the kind comments on my wobble/deleted post.
In a nutshell DS got an internal promotion a year ago and to say it has been a steep learning curve with many potholes would be an understatement! Anyway he has had such a bad couple of weeks at work he ended up in the doctors yesterday with chest pains. Sadly, added to that his wedding ring (remember 1 year ago) fell off his finger-- the stress has made him lose weight I think, and it has gone!
So I know that this time will pass--- DOH away for his cup final weekend so all a bit much last night !! I have been on to Amazon and found some self help books to send him and written a long email trying to give him a boost.
I think being a mother is the most special but hardest job in the world. I hate it when they are hurting!!
So I sat on the stitch up last night and I must say the resulting blanket is to say haphazard pattern wise --But DD2 arrived back from her extra shift in the pub as she is saving to go travelling in Sept and said " Oh that's a nice one MUM " So it just shows how everyones taste is different or I have a lovely daughter:rotfl:
Well A big welcome to Arlene as Kathy says if pssois a friend you will fit in beautifully here.
Anyone struggling with the crochet give it another try, and another because once you have got it -- work speeds ahead.
PTB -- Hope things calm down a little for you soon.
I am sure we all have pictures in our head of each other-- Some of course with blogs are a bit more recognisable!! But I have a lovely picture of PTB because last year as we were in mids of wedding preps she was planning a Christening and it all sounded so lovingly done. So I hope life gets a little easier.
Don't worry about any delays in sqaures I have plenty of lovely ones to keep me going!
Right off for a weetabix -- How I hate them but all that there is!!
Love to one and all and thanks again

afternoon all, just a quick update ....
Thank you for your prayers for my friend Jan's OH, he came through the 9 hour operation very well. Just have to wait for the biopsy from the tumour now, but they did manage to remove 90% of it.
It looks like his sight will be ok but must wait 6-8 wks to be sure, the tumour had grown round so many nerves and blood vessels which were close to his left eye they feared he may be blind in the one eye.
He has been out of bed, with help, to go to the bathroom, and seems fine with that too, the big worry was he may have come out of the op paralysed down one side, so that was a relief.
We had a shock yesterday morning at 1am the careline rang OH, his Mum had contacted them and said she felt ill and could'nt breathe, so there was much back and forth with phone calls and the upshot was she ended up in Heartlands Hospital. OH went over and met them there.
When the doctor had examined her he asked OH into the office and told him she has fluid on the lungs, and her irregular heartbeat was getting worse (she was born with it but never knew until a few years ago) also has hardening of the kidneys. She is 90 in November.
They have kept her in to try and stabilise her and get more fluids into her, she is still on oxygen today but not the big mask now just the tubes.
I cant go even and see her as I still have this flu bug, and they would'nt be happy if I took it in there.
Have done quite bit of knitting will sort it all out and post my update later.
DIL's sis has asked if I will knit a couple of cardis for her baby due in August so I will be doing them next.
Sorry about the sad rambling post, but I feel so much better now
Thanks for being there
Anne

Will have a read over what I have missed later x0 -
So many struggles big and small on here at the moment
.
Chalky I don't think there is anyone on here who doesn't understand the nature of motherhood and how it feels when you can't just make something better for them. I keep being struck by how much like his Dad your Owen looks.
Shez, fingers crossed for your Mum's results.
Pippa, thinking of your friend and your MIL
Socky, hope you are managing to put the worries to the back of your mind for a bit, and get the tests for the boys soon.
Thank you for the links again May.
Hi to Arlene  and well done for roping her in Elaine. Hope you have a lovely time at the knitting show and manage to bump into the rest of the knutters.
Don't get your pet destinations wrong ISOM
Kinsey, WSM is Weston Super [STRIKE]Mud[/STRIKE] Mare
Kathy, thank you for keeping us all ticking along. How is Lily May?
Hope I haven't missed anyone, going to have a proper catch up now.
Hugs to all who need or want one, they're stacked high today.0 -
K2tog - as someone who was born and raised in WSM, I can assure you it's definitely Weston-super-MUD!! Lily May (my mum) is fine, thanks for asking. She has moved twice in the last year (back to WSM!) and is only just starting to feel settled. She just wants the summer to start properly now - she feels the cold dreadfully and the long cold winter really took its toll on her. She likes to take a long walk every day and it's just been too cold for months now. She has loads of items for Loving Hands so I've just sent her the info for the cheap courier service that Maytaurus found for us.
Pippa - thinking of your friend and her husband. Hope everything goes well for him during this worrying time. (((Hugs))) to your MIL, too. Hope YOU get better soon, too.
Chalky - (((hugs))) to your DS. I hope the chest pains are nothing serious and that he soon feels settled in his new area of work. The loss of his wedding ring must be upsetting, too.
Well, I'm just about to go out and buy the bedding plants I couldn't be bothered to buy yesterday because I did food shopping instead. We have a lovely day here at the moment and I see that the UK is forecast for better weather, so let's hope we all enjoy some real summer from now on.

afternoon...am back from weston super mare...no time to see mud! Picked cats up and some bits (wool incl) for mum and then took cats to barry where they will be living for a bit. They were most unhappy being moved but seemed to be settling ok when we left!Fingers crossed!
Decided to leave the fish until Friday as it quite hot here and despite leaving early getting fish caught and back to Cardiff by 3 was optimistic! Both mum and I feel pooped as well! Plus we can then say hello to furry things...

Hi everyone
Chalky - what a relief that DS's chest pains weren't something more serious, although stress and anxiety are not that much fun. I hope he has a relaxing weekend, and that you do, too! The lappy is lovely - beautiful colours and a lovely mix of knitting and crochet.
We've been out shopping for bedding plants - I now have loads of geraniums, petunias, bacopa and buzy lizzies all waiting to be planted, plus some tomato plants (four different types) and some chilli plants, both red and green. I also bought some more pots and tubs, and a load more compost. Hopefully, I can get them all potted tomorrow. I'll take some photos for my blog.We also have to visit the holiday home we're looking after to check it over and mow the lawn. As it's in a beautiful village not far from here, it should be a nice trip out.
The weather has been really warm and sunny for most of the day but the heavens opened as soon as we set foot in the garden centre. It's cleared up now - very contrary.
I hope you all have a lovely evening.
