Pam, what are you still doing up? I should have gone to bed some time ago but found I had dropped a clanger in my rippling so have been creative and believe I have [STRIKE]fudged[/STRIKE] fixed it without ripping out a load of it - hopefully.
Totally shattered now - hope I've got a shirt for work in the morning.
See y'all tomorrow0 -
Hi all. Hope everyone is well.
Elaine - hope you've had fun with the grandchildren!
Lyndach - welcome to you. I see you've had lots of great advice about your purling problem!
Shez - well done on such a great total!
Well, we were supposed to be taking down a ceiling today but yesterday went slower than expected on the renovation front, so it may be happening tomorrow, and we'll start prepping for it today. I'm dreading it but just want it over and done with asap!
I rippled a bit on DGS's Christmas lapghan last night but it seems to be taking a long time, compared to the giant granny square blanket I've made for DGD1. Plus, I don't think I have enough of one colour to finish it. I'm using two shades of blue and white; I have plenty of royal blue and white, but not enough of the pale blue I'm using; I've done about a third (in stripes of two rows each colour), so I think I'm going to do the middle bit either in all white, or royal blue and white stripes, and the last third to match the first third (IYKWIM?!!) - in fact, I've just decided on the second option! Don't you just hate it when you're not sure what to do! It's been bothering me for a few days, but I'm happier now I've decided!
Anyway, it's been a bit cold here lately. It's strange weather compared to the UK in that it can be almost freezing here first thing, then it gets really warm for a few hours, then it gets cold again as soon as the sun goes down. Luckily, we have an old conservatory here which has enough room in it for two old sofas and a table and chairs. Even when it's really cold, if the sun is shining it gets really warm (Louis the kitten loves it, as you can imagine!), so it's a lovely place to sit for a bit of a warm up. We had intended pulling the whole thing down but it's so useful on a sunny cold day, that we will keep it and tart it up - eventually. In fact, all the plans we originally had for this house have changed - I suppose it's because we've been living in it for six months and have come up with different ideas. It will still be years before it's completed, though, so I really do have to be patient.
Anyway, the update will be done over the next couple of days; I haven't forgotten it, I'm just waiting for some uninterrupted time!
Oh, by the way. Thanks to Pam and Jean for your lovely comments on my blog!
See you all later.

Good Morning everyone. I have missed you but am back online now. In the midst of unpacking but have skimmed through all the lovely natter since we left
Gentle thoughts for the sad and bad bits
Congratulations to Shelley re: Total from sale-- amazing you must be so chuffed
Kathy I have not had a chance to look at your new blog yet but I am glad you are pleased with it.
Thanks for all the lovely wishes for our trip.
The crossing from Plymouth to Santander was brilliant. And I used my newly acquired £50 from YouGov surveys to treat us to a posh meal in the restaurant which was lovely and made us feel less teary than when we left all the family at home!!!
Unfortunately it was St Columbus day in Spain as we arrived and having to wait 7 minutes at the first zebra crossing for a looooonnggggg dragon to cross set the scene for the journey --- 13 hours instead of 9 and that was with no stops !!! The Sunshine Bus hated being in a queue around Madrid for nearly 3 hours !!!
Of course I was a rippling but then it got dark and we had so far to go and I couldnt "hook" in the dark!
Anyway wool unpacked- Priorities!! And we are well.
Have good days whatever you are doing and its lovely to be back in touchTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Morning all, Feeling a little better today and enjoyed the first sleep on our new mattress (going back to a sprung one as the memory foam did not agree with us!). Knitted another little stocking last night, to put nephews money in for Christmas, in his fave footy colours (Celtic FC!!!!), have got another to do for niece, in pink/purple/red marl with some white detail. DS's has been done already in red with white stripes (he will get a car in his, and might do some more too for other cars!).
Rainy here again today so more washing to dry indoors (*sigh*).
Hope you are all ok and well done Shez (sorry I did not get round to sending anything!)

finished the jean greenhowe clown for LH, and also a baby jumper, for the xmas stall at local community centre, back to the knitting for a while, instead of the sewing up.
bought both simply knitting mag, and lets knit. might start teh pudsey bear next, looks quick and easy.
shaz xenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
I bet the clown looked great when it was finished Shaz. The Jean Greenhowe stuff is always worth it in the end don't you think? I made a few scarecrows in the past, and found it was best if I sewed up and stuffed as I finished each piece otherwise bits got lost or I wasn't sure what went where. Have you got a photo of him?0

Morning lovely people...had a look through knitting mags this am and am almost decided not t get them...there seems to be little in my size (22-24) and only a few bits that I like so much better to internet scour!! Want to finish my scarf so that I can get onto the next Cristmassy pressie - think I will do a blankie each for my goddaughters...charity knitting on hold for now as will never get it all done...Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1!
