Hello to one and all.
My posting has been a bit erratic of late so apologies for that. Love to one and all anyway. Dmil is here but apart from her immobility she is no trouble. However all this disruption to travel has made her anxious especially about her tablets running out. So we took the bull by the horns and went to the Farmacia and they gave her a whole new set without batting an eyelid! So that issue has been resolved.
We are due to fly home from Alicante which is about 2 hours North of us on Friday but in no way does that seem likely to happen.
In fairness we are luckier than so many but I was hoping to be home in time for my birthday next week and if it continues we have 2 weddings in early May -- 1 is my Nephews with the puppies. He is the youngest son of my brother who died 7 years ago so I really want to be there.
However all will be sorted I am sure but it is a bit unsettling!!
Well with this in mind can we just hold on to any lovely knitting you lovely people have done for me. Please don't worry if you have already sent any DD2 is at home but I did not want her having to trail to the Post Office constantly as she is at work all day.
Its lovely to see so many posting-- Linedancerann,Shaz,Salome,Mrs m , dpixie, Shez and the lizard!, isom, Don
Jean those cots are beautiful-- Hope your travelling plans are going well.
Kathy -- Wow isn't Summer progressing well. I bet you cant wait to see her and give them all a big cuddle.
May -- Lovely links
Don -- Any way you like with the squares but 8 inches please and a bit of extra matching thread helps so much with the sewing up !!
Pam --- Thank You so much for leaving a comment on Charlottes blog. I really appreciate that as it is hard to get going when you first start. So again Thank You and to all you lovely peeps who have become a Follower
Well I hope things are good with one and all I bet Jayden has grown already.
Have lovely eveningsTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Evening all...love those dolly carriers; v talented! Hello sock knitter, whoever you are!! Shaz hope you have a good eve just to yourself!
Re the book...comparing the Jan Eaton one to 201 crochet motifs, blocks, projects and ideas by Melody Griffiths Id go for melody to be honest - while the 200 blocks is good its realy just squares and circles...Melodys has more project ideas but prob a personal preference?
Well going to do some square collating this eve as havent the concentration for much else. Popped to see a friend for a cuppa this am and spent the rest of the day going though work stuff...lots to do and my brain wont stop whirring...
Chalky I will look at the blog (well did look) but didnt want to comment too soo lest she get suspicious that the MIL may be reponsible! Miol Isoke has also calmed down but has decided to be fussy and not eat sains own cat food...thought of you Seakay when I got some from Mr T's to see if that would work lol!
Beautiful sunny day here again and must try to get to the allotment soon as much to do!
Off I go to start cat blanket and than actually add sommat to my siggy lol!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Evening all, and what a beautiful sunny evening here in Yorkshire it is too!
Have just got back from a work training session on “Ten Top Tips on How To Avoid Stress” which included a 15 minute relaxation session (in which I nearly fell asleep), so am feeling good at the moment! Tomorrow it’s an all day session on forced marriages, so a complete contrast there.
Anyway, onto other things, namely woolly ones:
Firstly, thanks to all who have sent wool already for Project Pink, my basket is getting full and there are some pink feet for doll on the needles at the moment. Package arrived from Reading this morning with some gorgeous wool in, but I don’t know who sent it (have a feeling it could be Hester?) – so thank you to you!
Only Girl – have got yours too, and that’s beautiful as well.
I am so lucky to have such generous friends….
Sock-Knitter: hope you have a lovely evening, and get lots done! Promise will sort some time out soon and we can catch up
Welcome to the newbies; apologies for brain fog, but big welcomes all round, and there’s always someone around for help/advice/a general natter (or should that be knatter?)
May – lovely to see you, and as always, great links for us all to get carried away with.
Anne – glad to see you had a lovely time in Devon, gorgeous part of the world, and again, thank you for the Project Pink donation! I know the feeling with 4 needles too, and I have the same problem with crochet hooks…I find they make good missiles and do bounce off the sofa quite well too. I have lost many in a flinging fit across the room! I have no patience sometimes and get so frustrated!
ISOM – onwards and upwards; and remember it’s important for “me” time too…
Chalky – I need your medical diagnosis on this one….I seem to be incapable of producing anything from my knitting needles that isn’t remotely “boob shaped”. They seem to be increasing in number (and size too I hasten to add)…..I think I may have a case of KBO (Knitted Boob Obsession) or OCBDO (Obsessive Compulsive Boob DisOrder). Any suggestions for a cure?!?! They are all in various colours, sizes and patterns too – is this contagious?
Hee hee – seriously, I seem to have a new obsession at the moment which at least is using up all sorts of bits, inbetween pink pieces. DH thinks I am crackers (and he’s probably right), and finds them amusing to say the least. I swear one of them if part of a pair would rival Jordan and simply must weigh in at at least a 44DD!!
Shez – Yoshi looks lovely. How’s preparation for the jump going?
Jean – sounds like a marathon journey, and good luck with it all!! The carrycots are gorgeous, just where do you find the time?
Kathy – all go at yours methinks, but it will be so worth it! Can’t believe how old Summer is now – they grow so fast don’t they?
Salome – hope first day of schooling after the break went well. A woman of your talents, I am sure it did! And big gentle hugs heading your way too….
Mrs MP – that fayre has come round quickly. Is there anything you specifically need?
Dpixie – I had an afternoon of boring essential jobs yesterday, but they had to be done. Once done, they’re done I guess and I can spend time doing more fun things.
I have a couple of hours to myself now – littlies are in bed and asleep already, and DH is out undertaking an Access exam (all those databases..I don’t envy him), so kettle, cream cake and some needles I think.
Love and hugs to everyone,
Dawn xx

Hi everyone.
Sockknitter – good for you! I’m so glad we haven’t lost you.
Chalky – well done. I don’t know how you’re travelling – after all, we are hearing some amazing stories on the news about how stranded people are making their way to their destinations, so you could be going by camel for all we know, but well done on finding a way. Have a safe trip and a happy visit. My sister-in-law and her family are stuck in Cyprus at the moment deciding whether to wait or try and make it home another way – they have a five year old with them so don’t want to risk a lot of hassle if they can avoid it. At least they have their own place out there so they are not stuck for accommodation.
ISOM – thanks for the feedback about the books. I have some book tokens I need to spend and want to use them wisely!
Well, we have been working really hard getting the house organised – DH has made a start on insulating the vaulted ceiling; he was hoping to get more of it done yesterday but we ended up humping and dumping furniture around. BIL and nephew had twin beds in the spare room last week but, for DS2’s visit with his family, we needed to change those out for a double, with much puffing and panting as we carried beds up and down the stairs! I shall leave everything to air then make the bed up at the last minute and, of course, we need to make room for the travel cot! We’ve also had to move other bits of furniture about and make room for my prized Welsh dresser that DH and my brother made between them – it’s been in storage for ages and I’ve really missed it. I can’t wait for it to be in its rightful place. DH has also finally finished putting the wall and base units in the utility room but he has run out of doors and end panels so, although it functions as a utility room, it doesn’t really look like one! We will have to wait until we return to the UK to get the bits we need because they came from Magnet Kitchens. We didn’t have the heart to ask DS2 to get them – he will have enough to cram into his car on Saturday (including teabags for us!. Anyway, I can safely say that we are on course to be more or less organised for Saturday then we can take the week off to relax and enjoy the family.
I’m afraid I’m just not getting any time for knitting or crocheting. We try and make sure we sit down for at least an hour in the evenings but we both fall asleep within minutes! I conked out so deeply last night that it took DH ages to wake me up then, as soon as I got into bed, I conked out again! We’ve both decided we could do with being twenty years younger this week!
Shezmit – I just wanted to say, although I expect you are already aware, but animals like bearded dragons carry the salmonella bacteria on their skin so please take extra care when handling your newest arrival. He does look lovely – a nephew of mine had bearded dragons when he was younger and I found them fascinating creatures.
Well, I suppose I’d better get going. We’re hoping to go shopping this morning to buy a couple of rugs and, no doubt, some other things for the house. We’ve just realised we’ve been so busy we haven’t been out for three days! Still, that’s three days without spending any money – I’m sure I can make up for it today!
Have a great day!

Hi
First day back at school went fairly well. Always hard to get them back into the swing of it. My 15 yr old is a very reluctant student, and it's hard to get work out of her. Going to try a different approach today :-)
Still haven't got to the wool shop to get the wool I want. Will have to go tomorrow now. Something to look forward to :-)
Loving the sunshine. The front of my house has the sun all day. This time of the day it comes in through my front room window lovely :-) Where we have our decking is a real sun trap and lovely to sit on well into the evening when the weather is really warm :-)
Just seen a blue tit fly into a bird box we have attached to our bedroom wall, so going to hear little blue tits tweeting soon in the mornings when I wake up :-) Just told my cat he's not to catch them or I won't be his friend !!!!! I did have a table out for the birds, but he kept lying in wait for them, so I took it away. Thought it was a bit cruel to lure them to a certain death. Even though he has a bell on his collar, he still manages to get them :-(
Have a blessed and prosperous day. Hugs to all in need ((((hugs)))) Love you all.
