mrs-moneypenny, I like Philippa Gregory as well, and I think I've read most of her books, learning enough of the tudor period to answer questions in the process! I recomend C J Sansom for more about tudor times.
dpixie I haven't heard of the books you mention, but will look out for them from now on.

    Hi
Please tell me where the time has gone these last few weeks, because it's passed me by so quick, I 've not seen it !!!!!!!!! lol.
Welcome to new babies, new knitters, and lovely to see prfungi back again :-) Hugs special for you.
Lol about teaching politians to knit. You can just imagine the MPs all sat in parilment clicking away hee hee.
I've had a bit spurt with my needles :-) Nearly finished a baby cardi , finished some premmie booties, and I've finished the baby blanket. The intended baby who's it's to be, is late in arriving. She was due on the 9th, but is still, as far as I know, still sitting comfortably in her mums tum :-)
Talking about babies, isn't Jayden a lovely baby? AWWWW. So SWEET. Loved the little jacket. Who knitted that one :-)
Two of my girls do a council run childrens scheme, where they do a bit of work in the community, like gardening, clearing up etc and as a reward get a treat. So, they've gone to Thorpe park today, and by coincidence, one of my other girls was going with some of her friends as well, so they will be there at the same time lol. Other daughter and son at work today, so it was just me and my 17yr old, which was lovely, as I don't always get a lot of time with her. Even more delightful is she's my knitting daughter, and is really into clicking, so we had a lovely morning in our local wool shop, before having a cup of tea and tea cake in a local cafe :-) Lovely day :-) (spent money on a couple of knitting books though. Still need to encourage my daughter to keep the needles going don't I ??? lol)
Anyway. Have a good evening everyone. Hugs for those in need ((((hugs)))) Love you all.

Hi everyone and thank you so so much for all the (((hugs))), dodgy or not! Your empathy for my plight is much appreciated, I can assure you!

I'm up early because I woke up at about 3 am and all I could think about was a cuppa in what's left of my kitchen. Seriously, it's starting to look a bit more normal now, although, having gone without a working sink in the kitchen for a couple of days, we had the water cut off yesterday due to water works going on outside, then, as soon as I started to get used to the sink and its functioning taps, we sprung a leak from the water tank upstairs, so we had to turn the supply off (yet again!) and go hunting in the shops for a special brass thingy which, as with everything else, wouldn't fit without a lot of grunting and cursing from DH, and then a lot of the same from me because I had to keep turning the water on and off while he tested it. BIL and nephew had gone shopping for the radiators that should have been installed the other day, so it was down to me to be labourer again. Still, I do believe I have now had running water in the kitchen for a few hours now. No doubt, it will go off again when the men install the three new radiators later this morning, but that should be the end of it. My next grumble is that, because they keep moving the ceiling lights in the kitchen, I can't see what I'm doing when I'm cooking because I'm standing in my own shadow, so that's something else that needs to be sorted.

BIL and nephew go back home tomorrow. I'm sure they can't wait! It's been chaotic but having BIL here has meant that a lot of progress has been made in a short time, and I'm so grateful to him because it would have been a lot slower for DH with only me to help him! Our neighbour's daughter, who is the same age as my nephew, called on him yesterday evening with one of her friends, and invited him to play hide-and-seek around the hamlet! He was very shy and reluctant at first, but we talked him into it. Luckily, his French is so good, they were soon jabbering away and we didn't see him again for hours. I think they are planning to get together again today. He's been so good while all the work has been going on around him but it's good for him to have someone of his own age to spend time with.

Salome - your DDs sound like lovely girls. You've done a wonderful job bringing them up to be so kind and thoughtful.

ISOM - good luck with the violin. I want to learn to play the ukelele (don't ask me why!) so will be interested to hear how you get on.

    Pam - (((hugs))) to you.

Elaine - hope Jayden James is doing well.

Chalky - apple-catchers! I've never heard that expression before!

Mrs Moneypenny - talking about books, I'm reading Amy Tan at the moment. I love reading about Chinese history as does my DIL1; she recommended her and gave me a stack of her books to bring back with me the last time we were in the UK. So far, I've read The Opposite of Fate (about the author's own life), and now I'm reading her first novel, The Joy Luck Club, and really enjoying it. It's a bit difficult finding the time at the moment, but I try and read at least a chapter a day. I'm also proof-reading a friend's book at the moment. He has not long finished writing it and asked if I would check it over for him - it's all about meditation which is all new to me, but I'm enjoying it. He has already secured a deal to sell it through Amazon and Waterstone's, so I hope I am helping him! He sends me three chapters at a time by email.

Well, not much crochet is being done at the moment, for obvious reasons, but things should start settling down again soon. I'm trying to finish off the little sporty booties I'm making for DGD2 to wear for the World Cup (she's way too young to understand, of course, but I know that her Mum and Dad will appreciate them!), and then I will do some more squares for Chalky and Mrs Twins. While things are upside down here, I think squares are easier to make than anything that requires shaping. My nephew has shown interest in what I'm doing but has rejected all offers of being taught! He loved looking at my wool stash, though!

I've taken lots of photos of all the work going on here (including one that my BIL insisted I take of him and DH posing in the kitchen, once he realised that I would be posting them on my blog!) so I will post them over the weekend, once I've uploaded them all.

Well, I think I shall fill the kettle again with water from my brand new tap!

Hope you all have a good day. I have no idea when I'll get back online today - I just know I'll have to move the PC again before the day is out!

    Kathy

That is a real coincidence My Yoga teacher just lent me a book and its By Amy Tan --- The Hundred Secret Senses -- What a coincidence. I had never heard of her before

Quick info on " Apple Catchers" My DOH says that BIG knickers/bragas are called that because the little girls used to fill their knickers with apples when they were scrumping hence they became BIG hence apple catchers!!!!! Just goes to show what type of girl he was with before he met me !!!!

Will pop back later--- Market day again-- Where did that week go !!! Doing the last lappy before we come home plus hedgies

    Love to all

    Hi
Well the girls survived Thorpe Park and it's rides lol.
I can't decide what to do today ??? Think I might sit and knit lol. I ought to have a walk of some sort today. I haven't been very good with my calories lately, and don't like paying the gym for excerise I can do quite well for free if I put my mind to it, which I don't very often lol. It's a lovely day though, so there's no excuse :-)
Have a blessed and prosperous day. Hugs to all in need ((((hugs)))) Love you all.

morning all - OH at home again due to back being very painful - routine gone again. i am dying/itching to get my hands on my crochet, but dont want him to think that i sit at home doing nothing all day.

anyway, weather is poor, but not too bad for a walk, so i think i will take a walk down to Mr W's and see about a bottle of wine to go with our dinner. (sometimes i feel that i need a reason to get out and walk - does that make me lazy?) salome, we have gym membership for a lovely (cheap) gym about 10 minutes walk down the road, however, when the weather is reasonable, i find loads of reasons not to be inside - do you think its just excuses? chalky - is there a diagnosis for this?

anyway, kathy, good luck, i really feel for you, but i am sure that it will all be sorted soon and it will be so lovely that you forget the hardship very quickly.

chalky - forgive me, but what size squares do you want? i will be happy to send some to you.

also, is there someone who wants a number of very odd squares - i have a friend who wants to knit squares for a number of causes, but she sticks to 40 stitches and 4mm needles, no matter what the yarn is like, so there are some odd ones. if anyone wants them let me know - i have a small stash of them here and another in france.

    have a lovely day all
