I'm guessing I've come in at a late point to a big ongoing project: is this a crafting for charity project? I'd like to join in if it is but I can't quite fathom how it works: can someone point me to the right bit of the board that explains please?
Post one of thread two has quite a lot of information and addresses:

Moliere is sort of our leader, so you could check on her earlier posts as well.
Basically, we do a bit of knitting for charity when we can, tell each other about it as well as having a general chat, sometimes come together in one cause. If we have anything to report, as in finished items, then we post on here on a Sunday and list our items for charity in red, and Moliere will put them all on a spreadsheet on her blog
In the past we have done squares for blankets for the elderly, Romanian orphans and others, Mini bobble hats for Innocent Drinks in aid of help the aged, clothes for premature for hospitals to use and distribute, shrouds for babies.
You can do anything that you want (Maytaurus posts loads of wonderful patterns) for a local cause or for a national one (although that will involve you in postage costs)

Well I have had such a busy day. MIL is on her way as I type from Alicante. DOH decided to just do the trip straight up and down. I expect he had the music on full blast as he travelled
He left me at home to get straight because the place was upside down -- all because of == its that hooking again!!!!!!
No. I have decided to bite the bullet and do the one off charity stall at the Rastro Market on the beach. I hate early mornings and have to be there at 8.00. So all day I have been finishing all the crafty things I am taking to sell
Crads, monkeys, applique hearts, teddies, flowers, body oils, flannel cup cakes, hedgies (of course!!) and lots of bits and pieces
I am going to give the takings to GAPA which I think is such a worthwhile cause-- Its that Grandparent thing again!!! Anyway I hope it goes well. If not it is right on the beach so the views will be lovely anyway. Wish you were all around to give me a hand
Lots of love LindaTry and do a good deed every day.0 -

jayden james, welcome to the world, never been an auntie before, so its my pleasure to become a virtual auntie, sending you, your mummy, and your grandma lots of hugs xxx

hello there ladies
welcome to newbies and hi there to may - lovely to see you again.
welcome into the world jayden james!
isom - love the topics you bring up - funny enough i worry that people think that i am a saddo as i never make anything but charity stuff (do they realise that i am not confident to make anything for anyone else????)
france was lovely and it was great to sleep in our bed and be surrounded by our stuff - not the stuff of a rented flat. not that the stuff here isn't fine, its just not ours.
some bad news, our neighbour who had cancer died in february. we didn't know as the cleaner was still opening and closing the shutters each day, but what a rude awakening we had. i opened a letter (thinking it was a thank you letter from a neighbour for the first and only crafting thing that i have offered someone) but instead it was a letter from Gaby's son telling us of her death. NOTE - we did go to St Pauls yesterday and light a candle for her. we loved her very much and miss her so much.
also, one of our neighbours little dogs (hunting dog) who is a sweetie, got a pine needle in her eye, which went septic and the eye had to be removed - how every sad for a dog that is only a year old.
everything else was fine, generally (other than the pool water pipe bursting) so we were pretty pleased.
we are now back, and have had some very good news, my baby brother has decided to get married again, to the most fantastic woman, i love having her as a SIL - she has been so good for our family, they are getting married on 10-10-10 - so i will be MIA again around then. they are getting married in south africa, so i will be gone for about a week - minimum. i am sooooo happy.
anyway, i will update my totals on sunday (not that they have changed by much).
its lovely to be back, missed you all

pinkwitch76 welcome, hope you'll be happy here.
Shaz glad you enjoyed your break, has the lump gone?
Pippa that's horrid news for your friend, let us know how things go on.
Chalky the stall sounds great, wish I was there to help. We know you're not really bonkers, you just help out when it's busy!
dpixie what a mixture of good and bad news, so sorry about your neighbour, it must have come as quite a shock, and that poor little dog, it just shows how easily that sort of thing happens. Great news about your brother though, I remember how excited you were to see him, so something nice to look forward to.
Love to MIA's and everyone, xxx0 -
Hi there, at last I`ve managed to get back.
Thank you all for your good wishes and hugs for our new wee man, although he`s not as wee as we were told.!! The midwife who weighed him soon after he was born said he was xxxx grams, that`s 7lb 6oz (as I told you) but the paperwork DD got when she was discharged last night says 8lb 1 oz so he put on 11oz overnight. Haha.
Well, as you know DD had a midwife appointment on Tuesday and she was `twingeing` all day but she only complained of back pain, no contractions as far as she knew, but as she said, she wouldn`t know what a contraction felt like as she`d never had any before. Logic really.
So she had the back pain regularly all day and by 7.30 was getting sore. Phoned midwife for advice and was told to take a couple of paracetamol and have a warm bath, she was probably in early labour etc.Stuck it out till 11.30 phoned again as she was finding it harder to cope and was advised to go in. Went in at midnight, checked over then asked if she wanted to be `examined` before being sent home again. Uummed and ahhed a bit then decided she wanted to find out what was happening – if anything. Told she was 2-3 cms dilated and to go home and try to rest and relax for a while and given stronger painkillers. Fine. No chance of rest naturally and the tablets didn`t work as she was sick soon after we got back home. Carried on pacing about until she couldn`t stand the pain and phoned again at 5.30am and was told to come back in although she still only had back pains coming every 3 mins and lasting for about a minute. Arrived there at 5.50 and told there wasn`t a bed yet in the unit as there had been quite a few babies that night but by 6.10 she was in a bed with the gas & air on hand. Wasn`t impressed much with that at first and midwife said she could have morphine based jab but that it would take about 15 minutes to work – just gimme was the response. Jab administered then about 10 mins later water breaks (lots of water) and she wants to push. Told she`s not ready – don`t push. Can`t help it want to push – so dr was called in. OK start pushing, DD yelled a bit and was told to stop wasting the effort and push down into her `nether regions` 3 or 4 pushes later out pops his lordship !!! All over in a flash and before the jab had any effect.:)
They had to stay in for 24 hours as they had to make sure he hadn`t any infection from pooing before he was born, mucky pup, but they were discharged last night and got home about 8pm. First night went fine and midwife came in today to see that all was well and will come back on Monday to do the Guthrie test. DD seems to be coping well so hope it continues that way. DS was babysitting this morning– DD had asked if she could leave baby downstairs with me and go back to bed for a wee while but I discovered I needed fresh milk so DS was left in charge of baby and told to wake her if the midwife came while I was away. He`s good with the littlies so had no qualms leaving him for 10 mins and he was in his element. Long may it last.
Will try to post a pic with DD`s help.
Quite tired tonight as not had much sleep the past few nights but hopefully will catch up eventually - do a `Kathy` doze off on the sofa at odd times :rotfl:.
See you soon, hugs to all in need. Haven`t had time to read through but glimpsed that some of you are having tough times, will read through tomorrow to catch up.

Hi everyone - was MIA yesterday because my PC had to be mothballed to keep it free from dust while the work I've been dreading was carried out. Yes, finally, at long last and because I couldn't stall it any longer, the wall between the kitchen and dining room has been knocked out, and the kitchen ceiling has been taken out, so we are left with beams everywhere, a huge huge kitchen, and a lot of making-good to do! DH and two other chaps did all the hard work; it took them just four intense noisy hours to do it, and clear up afterwards. I've taken loads of photos and will put them on my blog later. The room looks so different now and we are re-thinking how to design the kitchen, so lots of vino collapsio was imbibed last night and lots of drawings done which got ever more fanciful as each glass was downed!
I went out for the first couple of hours of demolition because there was nothing I could do at home. I went into my favourite haberdashery shop and treated myself to some new buttons for an idea I have - I'll post photos of the buttons later - and some tassels (just because I liked them!), plus in another shop I found some rolls of plastic cord (I'm sure it's recycled carrier bags) so I bought a roll each in pink and blue and spent yesterday afternoon practicing with it and making a shopping bag. It's a mindless project I can pick up and put down but I'm quite pleased with how it's turning out and will buy some more of the cord today.
Anyway, BIL is coming this afternoon for a week - he's a plumber and will sort out the waterworks in the kitchen and add some radiators to the rest of the house for us. He's bringing my 11 year old nephew with him, who has mild Asperger's syndrome, so I suspect my time will be spent with him over the next week. I'm setting up a craft table for him, and I'm going to buy a basketball hoop and ball, and I shall also introduce him to our neighbours' two children, so I'm hoping he will have a nice week with us. We have lots of parks and a lovely swimming pool in the town, so, with good weather forecast, I'm sure he will enjoy his stay, even if the accommodation is currently less than glamorous.
Well, what a lot of happy and sad news I missed yesterday.
Pippa - I'm so sorry about your friend's husband; what worrying news. I wish him well.
DPixie - so sorry to hear about your friend and the poor little dog. How lovely, though, that you are getting a much-loved SIL and a trip to South Africa.
Elaine - an eventful time, then! Congratulations to DD and I can't wait to hear more news about Jayden James. He sounds gorgeous.
Welcome to Pinkwitch - I see you've been 'filled in' with what we do and given a warm welcome from the lovely bunch on here. (I have to warn you that Chalky is being very modest - she truly is bonkers, but in a lovely way!). If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and there will always be someone along who can help. I hope you enjoy it here!
Chalky - hope the stall goes well and that your DH doesn't mind that you now have a full-time job making things! I thought you'd retired!
Shaz - glad you had a good time in Devon. As far as the shingles are concerned, my DH still has the mark of a rash from when he had it many summers ago. I'm glad Daniel is feeling better, though. As for losing your voice - I remember that happening to me and my boys did all they could to try and make me shout, just because it made them laugh hearing me!
My sad news is that our friends' gorgeous border collie passed away the other day. She had been diagnosed with cancer and given just a few days, and we can't believe she's gone so soon. She was a wonderful animal and we are sad enough that we will never see her again, but our friends are devastated. Why and how do animals find such a huge place in our hearts? After all, they are 'only' animals but, boy, do they make a difference to a home. I'm really hoping our friends will be able to come out here soon - they loved their stay with us last summer.
PTB - your Cinderella is beautiful - well done!
Well, this is a really long post but a lot has happened on here since I last logged on! I'm not sure how often I'll be able to post while we have visitors but I will do my best; you lot keep me sane and grounded and, believe me, I need that in my life right now!
Hope you all have a good weekend - I hear the forecast is good for the UK, France and Spain, so I hope we all have some sun!
Will pop back later.
